Definitions are only useful when agreed upon. Being vulgar and unpleasant towards people means Linus(with an s) has bad manners. You can choose to tolerate that for some reason, but you cannot expect it of other people. Instead, it is expec

Swap the languages around and see if the statement doesn't sound a bit elitist to you. I feel like the parent could have chosen more neutral words if they wanted to. Their particular experience with irreverent/careless programmers

As a C programmer who "tried" Python, I feel offended. I wrote substantial OO code using list comperhensions and other things pythonic. I am also a functional programming affectionado, though a realist, not a fan. Don't label

What's worse is that we're using "modern" programming languages for which these things aren't even on the horizon. It's so far from the mainstream norm to implement these ancient time-savers that you can't

I ascribe spiritual significance to the mind (not the brain). If consciousness is more than a mere product of brain's functioning, Strong AI does not have to be beyond the horizon.

I'm not the same guy, but I'd like to answer: Familiar, that's how it feels. I'm confident that I'm right about the other matter, and subjects are related, so I'm not bothered.

While what US has now is bad, your solution is not complete: One can imagine that in your scenario a doctor can claim you're not really sick, or lie that you have been cured. So what actually becomes profitable is not treating people.
