Unless I am missing something. We have seen some major improvements and innovations in the browsing world from major competition even since Chrome entered the market. Your definition of innovation might be different, but both IE and Firefox

Yes of course, the main traffic is youtube bw, which I think its 95% of the total traffic going through ggc nodes. But the don't have a breakdown of their traffic on GGC dashboard. We know it because we know our traffic before we had G

I am sorry I cant get in to specifics. But Routing for GGC is controlled by Google, it is not out of ordinary for your google traffic to not come directly from the GGC node of you ISP. Any internal routing change by your ISP might also caus

Yes its called GGC. https://peering.google.com/#/ We got ours delivered about 6 months ago. It usually works fine but once in a while google services will act up, but most of the time the issue is at ISP end because ev

I use netteller, that does something similar, called virtual cards. Can create multiple cards and assign funds to each virtual card. Its not as smoothly done as this one, but same thing.

As someone else have mentioned most of these connections are progressive connection. Another thing to consider is their CDN usage. Facebook uses Akamai as their CDN of choice, most large to medium size telco/ ISP has their own Akamai C

Anyone using this as a transparent forward proxy on a decent traffic (3-4gbps)? If so what kind of hardware needed to process 3-4 gbps tarffic?

What does Tech breakthrough in this context means? And what tech breakthrough came from Facebook? Is something like HHVM considered a tech breakthrough? Automated self driving cars considered a tech breakthrough? (most probably)

Even though I dnot use windows anymore, I have done this many many times with Windows Vista and Windows 7. It never took more than few hours. Even though few hours pretty freaking long. Taking couple of days doesn't sound like normal.

nginx + varnish + cdn + pagespeed + php-apc. Most definately possible and you will still have 400+mb memory to spare on a 1gb server, avg cpu usage is at 30-40%. Done it for few clients myself.

Was hoping for a smokeping alternative. Looks nice like nload but not as useful as mtr. Mtr not only tells you the latency but also gives you the route and where exactly the loss is happening. (Minus the graph)

Wouldn't the latency depend on your location and the location of the server where its hosted? To answer your second question Teamviewer works good for us, we use it heavily in our office on linux desktops.

whats SIX? We are at SEA (South East Asia) :) GGC's are everywhere, its relatively easy to get, other than proper business paperworks the onle requirement is to have decent bw, I think minimum 1gbps Google BW.

I own a small ISP in SEA, Bandwidth from ggc is about 70% of our traffic (mostly youtube). While we don't have GGC ourselves yet, our upstream does and we have peering with them. Its amazing, how much of the actual "Internet"
