I got ~40 hours yesterday on my HTC one X by doing nothing special. My phone still had 6% left when I plugged in. The 2 days prior to that have been busy days at work for me and I have used the phone for ~3 hours (1 hour phone calls, 2 hour

Motorola Atrix shipped with fingerprint scanning back in 2011. The reason any other device doesn't have that feature ? Apple bought the company that made the scanners and stopped all further support. This even killed support for new an

Well you'll have to show me what Ubuntu has that Debian does not. Kubuntu, I suspect, is only named because it was originally sponsored by Canonical. Nothing more.

What are the equivalent locations for windows ? Also almost all programs installed via the package manager will use the same paths. If you are installing a package manually, then things get more.. interesting.

As opposed to windows where the user binaries are not located in a central location, I'd take this any day of the week. You can't blame *nix for having too much choice. Especially when it's coherent.

You can't plan for user stupidity. The system paths do not have spaces in them.

It used to be the same in India. But it changed a few years ago. Now you can Indian citizenship if you are born in India and atleast one of your parents is an Indian citizen.

A little bit disappointed that none of the Indian languages have been listed. Wikipedia places Hindi above Persian and Japanese among the most spoken languages in USA.

Well shit. Not all companies hire H1Bs just to reduce their operating costs. Sure there are some that may work that way, but given the current demand I haven't seen any of my friends from India working below market value.

It is a matter of semantics. Once you have an H1B, the new employer does need to make a petition. In immigrant speak, this is usually called a transfer. The transfer does not usually fall under the quotas that the original application fal

The idea that H-1B workers are paid less is idiotic. Especially if the employee is from Harvard. You may be saving tens of thousands of dollars if you outsource the job, but hiring an employee to work in the USA is different.

How is that smugness working out for you ? Windows users are fewer than iOS users. Would you now compare Windows phones to Ferraris by using the same analogy ?

Why should companies care about selling software for $9.99 when there are free alternatives, while instead they can focus on other things where they really add value ?

People using FORTRAN have this weird tendency of not changing much with the times. Their code bases go back decades, and PGI compilers are something they continue using.

Remember these are people who have been using windows all their lives. Change is not something all people can deal with easily. It also says, given the chance to be the default desktop, Linux can have higher than 1% market share.

There is money to be made making software for Linux. Mostly in engineering / Scientific software. Making money of utility software ? Not so much. If you are a company like PGI you are probably making a ton of money selling fortran comp

That is not totally true. The reason most people stay with Windows is because the hardware ships with it. In my experience Linux usage has about 50% retention rate among those I installed the OS for. If you'd install OSX or Windows on
