That is a very simplistic and uninformed view. He does not compare the cost of electronics, gas, automobiles or even other exotic foods. Each of these cost more in India than they do in USA. One has to consider how much of the costs of th

Some companies have license agreements that forbid reverse engineering their software if you have used it / worked on it. It may be even worse if you have actually looked at the source code of the closed source alternatives. INAL, But

I don't understand facebook hate. While it is a bad platform in its current state (for me) because of all the noise, it is also a great platform for many people to stay connected. Their engineering team also seems to deliver some great

Heh, I am a HPC programmer, I am not from the financial sector :) If you can give me links or pseudo code for these algorithms, I can look it up (may be even make a simple example and put it on our github page!).

You can not say that is always true. Microsoft is a software engineering company as well, but they do have a dedicated R&D team and offices.

Curios how many people here actually use Lua ? What are the applications you are using it for ? I know it is used a bit in the gaming industry for scripting purposes, but I am not aware of anything else. We use it internally to map some of

I've started my emacs config from scratch a few months ago to understand it better. Right now it is ~160 lines (not including the plugins). Plugins have been added for Markdown mode, go mode, ESS (for R and Julia) and Jabber for chat.
