Your meter will read lower though. Nest gets signal to implement demand response. Nest sends signal to all participants to up temp setpoint by 3deg. Homeowner uses less electricity. Meter spins slower.

I agree that there would be economies of scale to saving up energy at off peak times for use on peak. But the only way I know of this happening on the MW scale is pumped storage. Utility pumps water up into a reservoir all night and then le

OpenERP is still leagues above the million dollar paid apps of Oracle and SAP. I'm not saying you are wrong. Just how bad this particular segment of software is. It is wripe for disruption.

But I already have a smartphone in my pocket. Its not like I'm gonna run out and buy one just so I can use with Chromecast. I don't find the delay to play any worse than my "smart" blu-ray player. And the navigating is s

If you look back at the timetable, Google realized the Chromecast was a better direction then Google TV and but all efforts into Chromecast. That's why I'm really disappointed Amazon choose to create yet another platform for compa

Yet Chromecast solves those issues too. Searching for content is done on website or on existing app, so its only difficult or slow as website or app is.

You probably won't see packages for Ubuntu 13.10 b/c that only has support for another 3 months. But I expect to see a PPA pop up for 14.04 since its an LTS release.

This looks really nice. I can't wait to play with it on an upcoming project. Thanks to The Guardian for open sourcing it. I'm curious what support on mobile is like. I tried the demo on my Nexus 7 and it worked well for the two mi

Are there any plans for a Hack -> PHP transpiler? Or is that impossible? It would be nice to develop on Hack, transpile back to vanilla PHP where we still have to use the PHP.net runtime (shared hosts, Google app engine, Engine Yard, etc

They already made their own thing for Chrome OS rather than use GTK/Gnome or Qt/KDE there. I find it sad that they felt the need to make their own UI engine vs being able to contribute the changes they feel they need to an existin

I agree that this person should not have been using the school's electricity to charge his car. But to have him arrested is an extreme over reaction. The punishment does not fit the crime. That is what I take away from this story.

Turbocharging has been making a huge comeback in the US over the last 5 years, driven mainly by the increase in fuel economy it affords. The biggest example of this is Ford's Ecoboost engines, which are all turbocharged and direct inje

My wife worked at a company that did stack ranking and that is exactly the way it worked out for her 5 person team. You also need an unusually persuasive manager to get more than one high rank.

If your local supermarket has Fage get the "Total Classic". Basically stay away from anything that says 0% or 2%. If you have a Trader Joes nearby their Greek yougurt is good as well. I like granola in mine. I have also put craisins in it.
