I agree, I'm pretty strict about keeping UI state out of the store, but when you need to coordinate a bunch of components based on the status of network API requests and you already have a global message bus available... I've crea

Why would you serialize a pending network request? I use a property whitelist in my serializer that drops any application state not related to the business logic. Also, I don't use redux-thunk, I move all async operations to middleware

I always put a `pending` property on the `meta` object, and any component that needs to show network status can just check that property on every render cycle. Aside from requiring some extra utility functions in the reducers to prevent hav

It's just javascript... when I'm writing a redux-backed app I will often abstract out commonly repeated patterns in action creators and reducers. Every project is different so I just wait until things start looking predictable and

Everything you do now, but faster? I have GF and I don't know how I will ever be able to go back to <100Mb if I ever move. I haven't had to wait for _anything_ since I got the gigabit; even multi-gig 4k movies finish downloadin

The description of suspending sounds exactly like yielding generators and/or async await; why not build this feature on top of existing language constructs? I am quite sure the react core team has put more than the 30 seconds of though

Wow, I never would have considered throwing anything other than an Error. On the face of it, this seems like an incredibly powerful technique, but is it an abuse of a language feature?

One could argue that quoting a source who is a bit of a lightning rod for controversy makes the conversation more complicated than it needs to be if there is an alternative source available.

Isn't whack-a-mole good enough though? How many examples do we have through history of a large centralized organization being bled to death (or at least harassed to the point of giving up) by trying to wipe out a shifting coalition of

You could go into the black hole yourself but you'd need to communicate the results of your experiment by twitching the second hand on your daughter's watch who, conveniently, works for NASA.

I work at a shop that has to turn around a lot of simple SPAs very quickly, and a tool like this, if it works as advertised, could be a godsend. I will definitely be trying this out at some point in the next few days.

I left another comment up-thread, but yes, definitely. Watch someone in SE Asia or parts of Africa where people commonly work without chairs or tables; their knees are insanely flexible.

One of the things I noticed when I was living outside of the US is that you can tell who grew up with furniture and who didn't; those who didn't can sit on their heels with their knees on their chest in perfect comfort for hours.

I've had fallen arches since I was a kid. Is there something I can do to fix it? There was a point where I was doing a lot of barefoot running on the beach and being extra careful to focus on my ankle and foot posture, and I think it h

Surround yourself with good and trustworthy people and be good and trustworthy yourself. If the worst case scenario becomes real you will probably not want to be around for it anyway and if you do manage to survive, it won't be alone.

I don't think it's fair to claim these people are all beginners. More likely it's a phenomenon where mature languages have been around long enough that you already know their strong and weak points, but when you look at a lan

The genesis of the learned optimism movement was Dr. Seligman locking dogs in a cage and giving them electric shocks until they gave up trying to avoid them. This is somewhat glossed over in his books...

This was my experience as well. I don't know how anyone is able to use it; it brought my 2017 MacBook pro to its knees every time I would start writing a HN comment. I uninstalled it after about 5 minutes.
