> Most work on HCI is at the test, measure level, very much a science Most work on HCI was at the measure level. If you follow HCI research, you may notice a trend: lots of publications based on ethnographic methods, qualitative approa

I think you could summarize, instead of focusing on specific topics. - Introduce HCI as a discipline (multi/transdisciplinary origins); - The Human (cognitive, social and motor aspects); - The Computer (I/O devices and modalities,

I can't agree with you. HCI has a lot of impact on design, in spite of not being acknowledged (or even known ) by most of the practitioners. What the aspiring UX designers are reading (in Smashing Magazine & others) is, mostly, re

Well, I can't find references/materials on Human-Computer Interaction. It seems rather strange that there isn't a single reference to HCI in a UX curriculum. I know it may sound like the "hard"/science-y part,

I'm sorry, but the background (behind the text) is essentially noise. It will impact your reading which will, of course, impact typing. And about the "at least me" argument... I'm all for personal inspiration and taste i

Distraction-free and minimalistic, with background photography? I mean... not even the text area has a solid background, as it blends with the photography! It's noisy as hell, quite the opposite of what you are selling. I'm sorry

I believe that your proposed placement of the comments link (or button) would be a big downgrade in the UX. Mostly because it is positioned very far from the main link but also because it seems small. It would be a hard "hit target&quo

António Damásio (portuguese, but based in USC) is also worth checking out. Descartes' Error is a must read.

Ever tried the "Metro" version of Outlook Web Access, the one used with Office 365? It hijacks "Ctrl/Command + R" as a shortcut to "Reply". How oblivious is this?

I think the "Augment" book (as a collection of essays) might already exist, with an impressive list of writings. Look at "The New Media Reader" http://www.amazon.com/The-Media-Reader-Noah-Wardrip-Fruin&#x

Not saying that it is not solvable, but the damned IR remote is a limitation. A big one (no "pointing" whatsoever and huge input latency). Maybe a first step towards an acceptable UX could be using a new communications standard
