It doesn't sound like mister_hn is excusing Microsoft's behaviour. It's just that, if people think Google is the "victim" here, they are completely wrong. They both have little regard for a user's preference.

Indeed. Maybe my English skills are fading with time, but my impression was that it works there because it's unclear who you're talking about. "Some other" is singular, but multiple people could have noticed that so it m

One example: > My boss invited me for a one-on-one chat where they politely asked me to revert my change. I was aghast. The old code was a mess, and mine was clean! I begrudginly complied, but it took me years to see they were right. The

Sorry for the off topic grammar question, but am I the only one who finds it confusing how people have started to use plural pronouns to refer to individual people?

I can see how somebody would think that "Slovenčina" means "Slovenian" though. (Slovenian is actually "Slovenščina".)

Just because you _can_ survive without eating meat doesn't prove what I was disputing: (“Meat is bad for [...] health”). I can survive without carrots, but it doesn't mean they're bad for my health.

You're being ridiculous. We're literally evolved to eat meat. _Excess_ is bad for your health (such as drinking 1 liter of vegan olive oil).

Honestly, a moderator should intervene. What's the point of linking to an article where you can only read 3 lines before paying?

Sounds like a conflict of interest. If someone gets sued for rape, the jury doesn't get filled with rape victims.

Yeah, it's always cheaper to just take pictures with your phone, but using old and more difficult methods makes the photos seem more important even when they are objectively worse. I've been meaning to try wet plate photography[1]

You are conflating freedom of speech with the US first amendment. Freedom of speech is a principle. It applies to private companies as well. Voltaire didn't say "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your ri

Depending on your setup, you might never/rarely need to use certain keys. The numpad is a waste of space, there's literally no need for it. Arrow keys are rarely needed if you use Vim and i3wm (plus vi mode in bash and vi shortcut

Yeah, I dislike this too. It's not as if you have to change your keyboard layout to write a foreign name. You can just copy paste it.

I don't think recompilation is required. You can use proot (like chroot) to make a local dir look like "/nix" to subprocesses. I've seen it here (but not tested it): https://gist.github.com/mbbx6spp&

I really doubt it. Older people in Romania (not all but many) are nostalgic about communism. They'll say things like "sure you couldn't say what you thought, but everybody had jobs, houses, etc". They miss having things
