Author here. We have more work to do to make the happy path with the set of Influx tools (the TICK stack) more turn key and easier to run. The entire feature set is available in the open source versions. The thing we keep commercial is HA a

Thanks for the answer. Sounds like mileage may vary depending on the operation. For us, we've seen people frequently want to change data types (from int to float or vice versa). Although that more frequently pops up because they starte

For smaller users or cases we generally suggest InfluxCloud, our offering in AWS, which uses the clustering. Did you look into that?

Yeah, I'd think about that for the analytics use case. It's interesting technology and I always keep an eye out for what Influx can learn from these other projects. This CloudFlare post is on my readlist to learn more about it: h

Thanks for the reply. Interesting that you're using crons to query and then upsert. We're going to be doing the same thing in our 2.0 work. That paired with our new query engine should make things much better on our end. So it

Yup, I'm definitely a fan of their work. The new engine is a great design and all the work on the metrics standard is great. Having that as a standard format for service implementors to expose performance metrics is invaluable and we&#

See the link in my comment further down this thread. We'll do what we can to open source as much as possible while still maintaining a viable business so we can continue to invest in OSS development. It's a problem that we continu

Thanks! Shared tooling is exactly why we're doing it. If we can make it easier for our users and potentially easy for some Prometheus users, it's a win. That's one takeaway I have from the Graphite project and community. So m

Have to balance the needs of funding the business so we can continue the OSS work we do. It's something we frequently consider. If we can figure out a way to do it while still maintaining a healthy business, we'll be doing it. Bas

That's exactly what we're going for. Ideally, we'll also expose PromQL query functionality in Influx so Prometheus users can hit their historical data in Influx directly just like they would with Prometheus. Still early days

You might have experienced data corruption in an old version of InfluxDB, but we haven't had any reports of that kind of thing in over two years. There are certainly still things to be improved, which we're doing all the time, but
