I never considered flat and skeuomorphic to be opposite ends of the same design continuum. Those aren't the only options. I'd like to think the Apple design team is going to wow us with something new. Something better.

Electricity is fungible. The power company cannot possibly serve a customer renewable electrons from the grid. This whole thing is absurd and Apple should be ashamed for making the claim.

One problem with predicting the future is that some assume no new technology can or will be created. This comment is a case-in-point.

This was quite helpful since I base most of my purchase decisions on the entertainment value of the launch event.

It is my understanding that engine codes are not public and car manufacturers consider them copyrighted information, requiring a license. I wonder if Automatic reverse engineered the codes or licensed them from the manufacturers. The check

That sounds like a win to me. How can anyone fault the founders for taking that deal?

If we're gonna go there, lifestyle businesses solve real customer needs, usually for other businesses. Startups collect lyrics for hip-hop music. :-)

One of the most naive statements I have ever heard on HN: "I firmly believe that private enterprise will be able to efficiently make immediate use of any important scientific breakthroughs or discoveries." The reality is that companies don'

My theory is the Pixel is for corporate customers not consumers. Dramatically lower IT support costs since no local storage. Probably increased security as well. And this version takes care of the high end of that market.

2560 x 1700 display is a big deal for devs, but I think I'd find the extra $200 and get a Macbook pro.

Sounds like a wonderful Kickstarter project. Seriously though, the cost/benefit ratio isn't worth it for detecting stuff this small. "Worst in 100 years" and there was virtually no damage.

There is a bit of an elitist attitude in this point of view. Of course MySQL is not perfect. That's a strawman argument, nobody is claiming it is. For 99+% of all applications that need a simple database, it is more than "good enough".

How can anyone defend this behavior by Facebook? They purposely don't show the advertisement it to the person they are impersonating. And yes, they are impersonating me if they post something on my behalf merely because I liked something.

Weight equals calories in minus calories out. This ridiculously flawed concept is why people get fat. It seems plausible. It's how our bank account works. Sounds like science. But is wrong. And easy to debunk: Have you ever sat on a toilet?

What a stupid question. Do you want to X at (some far distant date in the future)? Do you love what you do? Then you will do it your entire life. Do you hate it? Then hell no. Next question!
