That sounds a bit like sunk cost fallacy? The development money is already spent, so the willingness to build the aircraft would seem to be based only on the marginal cost. But with modern financial engineering, who knows.

What Apple is forcing is NOT a free trial. It is first-month-free, which is altogether different. Using the phrase free-trial is a lie.

Google is under fire for removing political speech they don't like, not spam. This is where losing the 230 protections become a problem for them.

This is not really true, in fact, in my opinion, it is the opposite of this. Services are given immunity if they don't moderate their content. Once they moderate it, they lose the protections. Facebook want to moderate content and rece

Be careful, everytime I make this point I get berated by the Spacex fan boys. The reality is, making high speed trading faster adds no true value to society. And therefore I find this entire project sad.

Brands pay for placement. Promoting a store brand over another brand that paid for placement, not one that is necessarily better, is not a problem IMO. It is good business. You're gonna lose advertising dollars, but that's a busin

I would say some large states are also doing well per-capita - Texas, California, Florida - all three less than one-third the per-capita death rate for the country as a whole. California is 3X Montana, New York is 86X Montana.

Could one split the difference with "just under"? Or maybe add an expected value or prior value, and the algorithm would adjust how it is phrased?

I don't agree there is a common definition of end-to-end encryption. Ask a random, non-technical co-worker what they think it means and you might get an answer that matches Zoom's marketing claims.

can't really reach that conclusion. Mortality rate is too dependent on how many people have been tested, not the underlying mortality. Nobody knows the true denominator in these equations.

The video shows a plot of "new cases", which might be measuring the rollout of testing, not the actual increase in number of people with the virus. It is also not showing data per-capita. In other words, this is not terribly usefu

Knowing the actual CFR allows us to set the right policy. The seasonal flu has a range of 0.10 and 0.015% CFR. At what point do we shut down society? 0.4% 0.6%? And I know this will get me down=voted, but what if COVID-19 is everywhere alre

Is it possible for the number of cases counted to go up simply because more testing is occurring, while the number of people with the virus has leveled off?

If you are travelling inside of one country, France or Germany for example, it's great. However, if you want to take the train from Barcelona to Milan, it's 11 hours and 40 minutes. If you fly, it is 1 hour and 40 minutes.
