Yeah. I have experience procuring space for clients, but even so it's tough to get a reasonable deal on the west coast. In Dallas, I can routinely pickup a full rack with dual 20amp circuits, dual ethernet drops, and 200-400mbps unmete

Thanks for the info. I'm looking to move a rack from DFW to somewhere on the west coast. Everyone I ask so far indicates I'll be paying more to do so.

If you don't mind me asking, how much of that cost is colocation and bandwidth respectively?

Reading these is always interesting to me. Looking at these sorts of sites and the amount of articles and buzz they gather on Hacker News and other sites, I always assume they must be doing high six-figures in income. Yet the ones that are

Seriously, as one who recognizes the indicators, this guy needs help. I mean, everything about his career implosion and general public disdain, complete rejection of society, etc. is his own creation. If reading this Michael, without malice

Actually saw one of their BMW i3s driving on Bellevue yesterday. Was impressed at how quickly it accelerated. Doubt the battery life lasted long driving like that though.

What space restrictions (banner sizes) are you looking at? I run FeaturedUsers.com and this sounds like something that would be interesting to look at. Not sure how the insertion would work since we do JS insertion based on domains ourselve

So....all the progress PHP has made in recent years has not been undone.....but has been rendered irrelevant. Never again will anyone be taken seriously while using PHP. It will once again be purely the domain of amateurs and script kiddies

The whole discussion was pointless, since the foundation members obviously didn't have any intention of pursuing necessary actions or the fortitude to take a firm stance. As such, all they did was waste the time of everybody involved. Sorry

Thanks for the advice, I really do appreciate the constructive criticism. I just want to explain the issue of margin and debt in regards to the business I was running. The margins were ok. Ranged from 15% to 40% due to client acceptance rat

Thanks for the reply. The corporate debt had to be secured on my finances since this was a new company and had no credit history. That makes it hard to get away from. The advertising platform is currently pretty specifically for internal us

Currently working on my lead generation business n2neuron.com (site is woefully incomplete and doesn't represent much of what we do, but ok because our business is conducted on the numerous content sites). Working on my client lead-flow. Tr

Seriously? People make that little at these startups? I understand making that little pre-funding, but you would expect to be paid in sync with the cost of living in those areas after the company has been funded. You can't even rent an apa

Maybe a lot of startups also need to realize that an enthusiastic person with years of experience and an incomplete degree is better than most college graduates with no real-world experience. Seriously. The amount of degree snobbery in the

Paypal has a service called Website Payments Pro. I used it on a past venture and it was great. It was cheap to setup and maintain. It is a transparent solution too, so you don't redirect users to the Paypal site unless they are paying by P

Memcache your dictionary if you can. Or dump it into a MySQL heap table. That will speed it up a lot. Seriously, though, looping through the dictionary is really a bad solution. Maybe reading the dictionary into an associative array and mat

It saddens me that people needed the Cliff's Notes (Registered, Trademark, OMG WE PWNZ YOU) to understand what Paul was getting at. I didn't actively think about it; however, when I submitted my YC app, Microsoft didn't even enter my mind

It depends on your mindset. I had fully intended to complete my undergrad while working part-time and then create a startup or pursue a masters. Instead, my health forced me to drop one of my activities, and it ended up being my schooling.

See, I wish there was a service like Y Combinator just for meeting co-founders. It is hard for people who are in non-tech areas (or at least, non-startup-friendly areas) or middle-tier public universities to meet people to start companies w
