I'll remove the comparison to Gensim :). It really wasn't meant to be an attack on Gensim. I think it's a good and versatile library that handles a lot, but the aim of Magnitude was to be what Keras is to TensorFlow, a simple

Hey Radim, Shoot me an e-mail (link in HN profile), we just created this a few days ago, so it hasn't been up long, and happy to fix any disagreements in the benchmarks. You're absolutely right about Annoy Indexing, but to be fa

We just open sourced a easy to use library called Magnitude that handles out-of-vocabulary words and uses Annoy indexing for fast most_similar queries for word2vec, GloVE, and fastText: https://github.com/plasticityai/m

We've recently created an open source library that can help you get started with pre-trained word vectors and Annoy quickly: https://github.com/plasticityai/magnitude

Yes, exactly, we think there are a range of applications that will need this kind of common sense information on-hand in the not too distant future.

Thanks for trying it out. We're not intending for it to be extremely domain specific at this point, but as we add more data sources our coverage will get better.

Good question! We mentioned this in another comment, but a lot of the comments on this thread are about our Cortex Knowledge Graph API, but we actually think of the Sapien Language Engine API as our main product. We think being able to unde

We've done some experimental work with other languages (specifically Chinese). We think the Cortex Knowledge Graph API will do well when moved into other language domains, but the Sapien Language Engine will likely require full-rewrite

Uh-oh, looks like it's the non-ASCII characters that are crashing our interface. We'll fix this. Thanks for bringing it to our attention and the kind comment!

Yes, it will perform abstractive summarization (re-writing the language in the text) vs. just extractive summarization, which just pulls out high-importance sentences from text. But we'll offer both just in case.

You're right, it's on the roadmap for Cortex along with: 1) ordered queries ("Who is the 44th president?") 2) comparison queries ("Is Bill Gates older than Steve Ballmer?") 3) simple logic queries (AND/OR)

Makes sense, we haven't really optimized the ease-of-use of our demos / documentation yet, but are going to work on that soon.

Thanks! Fair question, we think spaCy is great, but it just made a lot of sense for us to start on the basics so that we could modify things as needed. For example, our tokenization algorithm and syntax dependency tree algorithm treats &qu

Thanks for catching that! We don't do anything like that, in fact, we don't work with the government at all right now. We know that there is a huge application of this technology in the government beyond the Department of Defense.

Right now we think of Cortex as a competitor to Google KnowledgeGraph and WolframAlpha, rather than a common sense knowledge graph. But, we hope to answer questions like that one day :)
