So it's not a backdoor because theoretically they can already intercept the messages? In other words, this is not a crack because the glass is already broken. I'm so relieved.

On mobile so can't inspect the changes but is it really a rewrite? If really so, that's a bit disappointing because I thought converting to core was going to be trivial.

I still didn't understand how they replace version control for the sake of something better. AFAICT, it just lacks version control?

Yeah, and any reasonable overclocking you can do is already automated by some ridiculously designed tuning tool from the manufacturer. I'm not sure about this but I think any overclocking people do these days are for the fun of the jou

I have uMatrix installed just for that, didn't know uBlock origin could also block third party scripts. Oh well, I also love to block all cookies and only allow first party cookies on sites that I've an account with.

Their meaning changed through the design process very often, which is normal. But the whole process was too public and people started to play with them and we had so many different interpretations... In the end, I think the developers just

Outside of HN, it's not very different than any other mainstream language, and I'm saying this as someone who doesn't work with Java at all.

Go doesn't share any kind of similarity in purpose, methodology or audience with Java. Or maybe you were being sarcastic?

In Germany, they sometimes sell you stuff for much cheaper, especially display items, if you let go of the warranty by having a stamp on your invoice. I bought a 1440p display from Media Markt around 120 Euros, which was normally sold for 2

Did the author try to use the components from a low end phone? Generally it looks good but all the jumping, flashing and crashing do not signal version 1.0.0.

Why are you depending on a variable which will be defined in a module which is expected to import your module?

Yeah, me too. I think if one needs the RAM for running VMs (so, not doing ZFS or running Prod databases), paying extra for an ECC enabled architecture isn't the greatest investment.

On the back-end there usually is a naive POST handler which happily accepts anything it can parse, unless a mature framework with sane defaults is used.

This situation keeps occurring especially with tooling. I guess one reason is that the tooling is there to bring in the magic in the first place. The other could be that tools being created because of the needs of a specific workflow and th

I just set the $GOPATH per project and it stops being a big problem, and turns into just an inconvenience. If you have a ProjectX with the path $pathx, set $GOTPATH to $pathx and place your source files in $pathx/src/projectx I al

I also recommend uMatrix. Ridding all the cookies while allowing some resources with such granularity is very powerful. Also maybe scary for new users, but give it a week and its usefulness will be obvious.

It's very hard to validate if you're doing validation on the application layer. If you moved your validation to the database and your users are actually db users, a joy to work with.

Just tell me in your web site kindly and unobtrusively that you need ads to survive and that you'd hand-picked ads which are not animated and respect privacy of your visitors. You'll immediately get an exception.

It depends on the context. In JS variadic parameters are also supported. This is like complaining they confusingly use curly braces around function bodies while you got used to them surrounding object declarations :)

JavaScript already allows you to do something very similar to extension methods by extending prototypes. OTOH, a function accepting an object which implements a specific interface as a parameter will make your code much more easier to exten

Hi, this is great. I'd gladly pay $99 for having such a convenient helper. However, I'm sad to see it's a temporary license. This is not SaaS, but priced like one. Can't you make it $X for the product + 1 year of updates

IMHO the performance of VSCode is good enough. At least for most of my coding. Inspecting huge, archived logs from 3rd parties is the exception. I think nothing can beat sublime in that.
