At least part of the funding went to research on hard science related to VR, such as tracking, lenses, CV, 3D mapping etc. And it paid off, IMO Meta has the best hardware and software foundation for delivering VR, and projects like Hypersca

This tool has completely changed the way I work with files - I no longer need to remember where they are, just a part of the name. Coincidentally, this means my files are better organized, since I know I can always just jump straight there

I find it fascinating that we have not identified a use for almost free intermittent electricity. You'd think there would be plenty of things to do, but it seems like with the capex investment things like smelting etc need to always be

Neat idea! I love this kind of low-stakes online interactions, a bit like 1,000,000 checkboxes as well - makes me realize how many others there are out there and invokes a strange but nice feeling of community :)

I got the T14s Gen 4 AMD recently - very happy with it, great battery life, no notch and very fast.

Very curious about the second order effects of the hundreds of billions poured into LLMs. Perhaps even if LLMs do not pan out, we will have a massive increase in green energy production, grid enhancements and a leap in capacity for general-

Indeed - the problem here is "How can we prevent a somewhat intelligent, potentially malicious agent from exfiltrating data, with or without human involvement", rather than the superhuman AI stuff. Still a hard problem to solve I

The specific issue here seems to be that Anthropic allows the unrestricted upload of personal files to the anthropic cloud environment, but does not check to make sure that the cloud environment belongs to the user running the session. This

What a lovely article! For me also the RIS 2.0 was my first exposure to programming and had a huge impact on my life. Still vividly remember the lightning sound when the software started. :) I hope Lego leans into the user programmability a

I think it's more likely they are terrified of someone making a prompt that gets the model to say something racist or problematic (which shouldn't be too hard), and the backlash they could receive as a result of that.

I would expect that most apps generated today contain at least some Ai generated code, whether through chat completion or agentic use. But, I think such tools currently mostly support people who already are able to create apps. As others ha

At the same time, there is now a ton of data for training models to act as useful assistants, and benchmarks to compare different assistant models. The wide availability and ease of obtaining new RLHF training data will make it more feasibl

I'm not sure this is true anymore. Anthropic e.g. claims that each model is profitable, seen over its lifetime. There are also a ton of providers of open-source models that are popping up that are hosting models for very cheap prices p

Not even just open source models - other commercial LLM models as well. All of the big LLM companies (Google, Anthropic, OpenAI) are basically ocked in a cold war of having to continuously outspend the other providers or risk becoming irrel

I would argue that even resiliency is a metric that should not be overemphasized in early stages of development. I would rather have a system that suffers occasional outages than one that has perfect resiliency but has added complexity with
