Interesting that you did not succeed negotiating. We had a case where our open-access fund would only help out if the fee was $2000 maximum. We communicated that to the journal and they obliged without further comment. (Though this was afte

Not necessarily. There are so many cases (even in industrialized countries) of former bog areas turned into farmland by lowering the water level that a biogas plant from corn grown on such ground produces 8 times the CO_2 a lignite plant wo

I think in this case it has more to do with that kids (and younger people in general) can hear better and at a broader frequency spectrum. I (and I know other people with the same problem) for example am always irritated why induction cooki

This statement is actually wrong since Germany has a population of about 10-20 elk (and more are migrating from Poland). But yes, last year we also had a car crash with an elk in Brandenburg but only the animal and its unborn died.

In addition to what other have said, I think the part mammoths play in pop culture plays a huge part here. Nobody would be (or rather is as those already exist) interested in some worm frozen worm or even the equally interesting woolly rhin

A small comment on one of these technologies: cell-free DNA. A big problem in innovating there is that THE big backbone technology player Illumina (for DNA sequencing) has its own big research initiative (named grail) in the field. I know

In addition to what others have said, you could still use biogas or synthetic derivatives when you really have to. It becomes more expensive and people do not like that but I would not call it a ban.

As your parent comment suggested, the human generation cycle is not measured in days and it would need hundreds of years to manifest such a trait in the population. Also, this impacts testing as well, so development cycles will be slow too.
