This is slightly off topic and might be taken as rude, but it would be interesting to revoice Chomsky’s lectures with his voice from his younger years. Seems doable using tools today, no? His pacing and voice made him a bit harder to follow

Makes logical sense from a library/unixy perspective. They offered similar reasoning for not including a file watcher at first but they eventually added that. HMR is pretty much the last missing piece to make this the only JS bundling

As soon as esbuild gets react hot reloading capabilities I’m jumping ship. Although that might be out of scope and there is Vite. I’m hoping to avoid vite and go pure esbuild. Fantastic tool. It will make JavaScript distribution a much more

People and companies peak for one or two generations at most. What happens long before the petro issue described here is people generally stop giving a fuck. There are few organizations that make it past any long range of time and when they

We know how LSP works...Run a few of their implementations for various languages and send me a script. I have, it’s not easy. Running the LSP server set for a polyglot programming environment is really hard.

I use IntelliJ daily. I think when LSP gets there VSCode can catch up and fill the IDE gap, but until then it doesn't come close to IntelliJ in terms of functionality (though sometimes the perf of IJ makes me want to switch but it has

If you have IntelliJ ultimate, Goland is installable via the Go plugin for free. I use IntelliJ for go/js/python using their plugins and they work as well as the native apps (pycharm, webstorm, goland). Although it is a bit toughe

This is one of the reasons I added archiving to a browser we’re building[1]. I wouldn’t archive when I had to do it manually. The internet is way too ephemeral as an information source. Let me know if you want to try it at some point (super

What are the quick pro/cons here? Assuming creditors take the loss (they assumed the risk), debtor loses the debt and what else? Do the debtors lose much besides their creditworthiness? The main con I assume is the moral hazard?

This made me realize my usage of sudo has gone down quite a bit. It seems like things mostly get permissions right these days, brew and ports were the main culprits back in the day.

The anecdotal experience is just as garbage though. Something like this will have very clustered behavior. I.e one grandma dying will color up quite a large number of people (probably 50+). The number is very fathomable.

I don’t imagine the plan could be constructed without a lot of lookups to internal information (cardinality, which data table it’s stored in, etc). Makes me wonder what such a plan could look like and if it even could be constructed on the

Most of these will be solved with the recently approve generics. Concurrency (less the pattern libs that generics will provide) feels generally hard. Although channel semantics in Go are very annoying (e.g what happens when you close a buff

Well the nuances lie in what "we" and "common good" are. In fact, the fact that these ads have already not been restricted probably implies the thresholds for "we" and "common good" have not been met.

Hashicorp has very cool stuff but I am not a fan of the config language they use on all their projects. It’s fine when I’m in an infrastructure type role and recency recall is fine but when Hashicorps tools are in my periphery it is a pain.
