The profit motive is not the reason for a company's existence, it is an optional personal/human motive. Companies exist to create customers. Everything else follows that. There is no value, no profit, not growth, no action wheth

Again, completely false and trivially disprovable. Most boards defer to management on most topics and most shareholders do not vote on anything substantial, they proxy vote, which defers to management. And thus management nearly always d

Yes. They also kept their DEI and environmental programs, actually substantive policies that many other companies are trashing because of this administration. I'll take performative ass kissing while preserving the important policies

There was a time (1943?) when dealing with the US department of war meant serving for humanity's long-term well being.

This is false. People can have principles, profit motive is not something a corporation has, it's something people have. Corporations do things all the time that are based on everything from principles, to the personal whim of execut

This is unhelpful fatalism and actively dissuades reform. Not all politicians are "corrupt and bought". And further, there is an enormous difference before and after this Supreme Court decision. It costs money to run for office.

Or perhaps, the base and establishment of the Democratic Party (ie. moderate black people) rejected Bernie because they felt he was a bad choice. This Bernie trutherism is really getting old, it's been disproven so many times.

Terrible policy. It denies freedom of expression to an entire class of citizens and their parents. This should be unconstitutional in most of North America and Western Europe. I was a kid online with BBS' in the 1980s when I was 10 y

No, nothing is worth panicking about. Panic is fear-driven. Fear is the mind killer. Restrictions are fine, to a point. Making something entirely illegal to save the children is a moral panic induced reaction, in my experience.

what's amusing about this is that I can't think of a playground irl that a parent wouldn't manually police these days. letting kids roam entirely free is a remnant of the 80s and a bit of the 90s.

Eh, you're not wrong, but management failures tend to be a bigger issue. On the hierarchy of ways software projects fail, developer ego is kind of upper-middle of the pack rather than top. Delusional, ignorant, or sadistic leadership

Social sector (non profits) have an important place in capitalist society as there are plenty of non-market / non-profit missions that are important. Unfortunately nuance is kind of lost in today's politics.
