AMD only just now released laptop CPUs that can compete with intel.

What pain, no exploits have ever been documented. These mitigations are makeshift insurance for datacentres.

This is a repost since last time you asked how to reach Bill Gates.

The quality of products on the market will improve beyond a margin if people buy after research and thorough reviews rather than being told something is good. Then companies might have to compete beyond having the flashiest ads.

Not actual diversity, but the one where you push to equalise minority representations. Like the driver roster in NFS Heat versus Forza Horizon 4 - both equally diverse yet Heat's look abnormal and crooked.

That's just the free market. The same free market that decides a structured bunch of bricks should cost 10x more in SF than Austin.

No, we shouldn't. I don't want my tax money being wasted on people getting a better place to live. What's next, loners and the elderly should be outcast to the outskirts?

What changes is purchasing power. Without going into detail, eastern europeans can get lucky with a nice outsource SV job. Our common expenses are symbolic.

I mean if you can go so far as to install or build third party ROMs, it'd be an interesting weekend hobby to repair electronics yourself. I've saved hundreds of dollars of technology on trivial home repairs instead of buying repla

Thanks. Is that the original lineageOS or one of those "what works: you tell me ;)" ROMs?

Count your blessings, it's an honour to work for silicon valley and spend half your wage on taxes and boomer real estate. Keeps the economy growing, I believe. What's that? No you must work there in person, it doesn't matter

Compiler flags you can just add yourself to your makepkg.conf on Arch (and BSDs with their ports trees).

They optimise some stuff but you'll generally see phoronix benchmarks score fedora workstation the same on a lot of workloads. Its package manager is horrendeous and there are no obvious upsides to just compiling yourself from the AUR

Does bloat even apply nowadays to Linux? On arch you can compile and optimise your software well and ryzens have upwards of 256KB instruction cache.

Performance is a solved problem nowadays, latency isn't. Especially with cloud-based software being pushed. The benefits of a tweaked linux kernel, such as liquorix are easy to spot. Yes, slightly reduced brute performance but large le

I also recommend W10 Privacy and Blackbird. Definitely turn off windows defender and all spectre/meltdown mitigations (inSpectre). They don't do anything either way.

To me, my optimised compilation of liquorix on f2fs beats windows on my laptop outright. I lose bandwidth but gain lower latency. Even moving around windows explorer and searching by name is embarrassingly sluggish on my windows 10 install.
