Can you tell us what the site is? I've once or twice found sites that blocked even mailinator's alternate domains. Having a less well known alternative to mailinator would be nice.

The definition of risk you're using is incorrect. Roughly, risk = probability x consequence. The probability of a startup failing is the same for the founders as for the employees. The consequence is not.

Works well in Gnome 3 fallback mode. Works well in unity as well, provided you get rid of the global menu which is fundamentally incompatible with FFM.

Apologies, when I said "all" I wasn't thinking of KDE which is actually the only major DE I've never used in a multi-monitor setup. From what you say I should probably try it.

All OS's support multiple monitors offensively badly. The least bad used to be linux with Gnome, which had a bad default configuration but could be quickly configured to work great (without installing additional software even). Of course bo

No, people like you are the cause of the problem described. The whole point of the article is that "we all know that in practice MAX_INT+1 is negative" is wrong . Apologies for the confrontational tone, but someone making that kind of mist

In short, no. It means using the subset of C++ that the author considers good. Obviously that varies a lot. At one extreme you have what is usually referred to as "C with classes": swearing off the use of templates, STL, etc. Having said th

3 years later the situation is even worse. Not only has 4:3 disappeared entirely, 16:10 is going away too in favor of 16:9 (apparently, I hear, this is because the 16:9 form factor allows better yields in the lcd manufacturing process). Thi

While I loved reading the Unix haters handbook it gets many things wrong. It gets a lot right too, but the point is it takes some critical thinking (and good knowledge of Unix) to tell which is which. In that respect I found the chapter on

This is a huge shift if it happens. X has been synonymous with GUIs on unix for more than 20 years, and has accumulated all the attendant baggage (both good and bad). There are also some big consequences for the linux landscape. The first a

Yes and no. The 747 is still in production and has been revised many times since. A 747 bought today will have relatively little in common with one bought in 1970.

You can make borders as thick as you like. The "1px border" disease is a theme design problem. It wouldn't matter if bottom-right resize handles were standard, but as it is only a few windows have them.

No, you're seeing it correctly. I was of the (apparently minority) opinion that they had really dropped the ball with the new theme introduced in 10.04. That one release later still suffers from blatant UI screwups like that is really disap

For me what killed C++ above all else is how incredibly 3rd-party-library hostile it has turned out to be. The article covers a bunch of stumbling blocks that are external to the language, but there are at least as many in the language itse
