In the same way we have websites running on disposable vapes, it may not be long before such a device could run a small local LLM, and lots of appliances could have a local voice interface - so you literally talk to your microwave!

This is a joke right? Not even 10 years ago the first phones with 4GB RAM came out, today there are quite a few phones with 24GB. At that rate we'll be at 512GB by around 2040.

The only thing remotely comparable in the US is probably a Comma 4 with a forked OpenPilot build on a well-supported vehicle

This doesn't seem quite right. Even using SmartAsset's income tax calculator for a city in California, I'm getting around a 45%+ tax rate for someone making one million a year of income. It's actually pretty easy to pay

It doesn't matter, they likely want everyone to be non-compliant so that they have an excuse to arrest you if they don't like you.

Is Verac's Flail included? Also what is the statute of limitations on this? I might have a revenge arc on a scammer from my childhood here...

Don't think it's been mentioned but dynamite is easily one of mankind's most important inventions - it made large scale terraforming and mineral mining possible

Not a great solution to constantly have to top up your checking account with some amount between "I need this much to pay my bills" and "losing this amount would devastating" which for many people has quite some overlap

They might not want to rent it, but in CA if someone moves in to a vacant property they still have to be legally evicted, especially if they've been there 30 days. Free rent!

Sure, it's impossible to block everything, but you can at least make it difficult enough to post AI slop that the spammers go elsewhere. Most social media sites haven't even tried and are in fact actively encouraging AI slop.

Part of this perceived arbitrage is the fee structure. Kalshi has a weird transaction cost structure but taking advantage of that 1c arb probably costs you 2c in fees to Kalshi, so nobody does it.

Interest on open positions. Polymarket pays about 4.00% annualized holding rewards on eligible markets/positions (not all). Kalshi pays about 3.25% APY on cash plus open positions (collateral). Edit to add that on non eligible markets

Are there any social media sites where AI is effectively banned? I know it's not an easy problem but I haven't seen a site even try yet. There's a ton of things you can do to make it harder for bots, ie analyze image metadata

AI browsers are great for defeating dark patterns too. I can go into ChatGPT Atlas and tell it to cancel my Adobe subscription and it'll eventually figure it out despite all their attempts to make it difficult. Love that.

It won't help to point out the worst examples. You're not competing with an outdated Apple LLM running on a phone. You're competing with Anthropic frontier models running on a multimillion dollar rack of servers.

Yep, aside from the fact that photography isn't allowed in US Federal Court, the most obvious sign is that she and the microphone are facing away from the judge - the positioning makes no sense. That's the classic AI photo issue w
