Agreed, I use euromomo to look at total mortality across Europe and it's difficult to deny that something was killing lots more people than usual last spring and winter (northern hemisphere). However it can also be the case that COVID

You're so exhausted! Poor guy! Got any stats on what percentage of the browser install base has even one extension installed? Then we can come back to your "tHe biGgEsT eXisTenTiAL ThReAt" nonsense. And how an assumption of m

Wow, so you believe this is actually being done to protect users from themselves, and not to hamstring adblocking in the future? I wish I still had that kind of innocence.

Yep, exactly my interpretation. And I agree with GP about the harm of those circuses. It's diversion-by-division.

Can you set a breakpoint in CLJS code within your editor? Can you instrument a CLJS function, call it and do step-by-step debugging like in CIDER or Cursive for clojure?

Sure, I understand. But that's several orders of magnitude less useful than what one gets in eg the chrome devtools console from a CLJS webapp. I found this to be a major timesink when debugging things, and never came up with a good bu

Do you know if shadow-cljs support source maps for React Native? (Their absence was a really significant pain point when I worked on a production CLJS/RN app.)

My impression is that CLJS, while an amazing way to write frontends with react, suffered from an incomplete/fractured tooling ecosystem, with the official maintainers leaning on the community to develop the 'batteries' and se

Thanks for sharing those. While encouraging, the first obvious issue is that "reduce" != "prevent". There's also the related issue of how long that partial immunity lasts: I think the conventional wisdom is that it

In my condo, there's a bylaw that new owners must occupy the unit for one year, in order to discourage speculators and try to maintain a high percentage of owner occupation. While there are definitely efforts to skirt it, it does seem

Not sure that's a major problem? Predators are generally the animals with the larger territorial requirements for a home range, and thus more reliant on the presence of these corridors to feed and disperse into new territory.

I find this a little disingenuous, since React and React Native documentation rarely if ever feature code examples in any actual flavor of standard JavaScript and the 'blessed' way of writing React app involves quite a bit of embe

Right, then you basically lose caching, since the everything's-a-POST requests would go to the wire every time. Not that I haven't considered making that trade-off.

Limited error handling mechanism in Apollo and our backend GraphQL library means I can't use then/catch to reliably handle both network and server errors. Apollo also hijacks state management and somehow decides when to fetch over

I <3 this comment. How I _wish_ I could nope the hell out of our GraphQL dependency, for the reasons listed and for the frighteningly complex client libs we have to use to consume it, rather than straight up ajax/fetch.

Having to use something like Redux, conceptually solid but so full of boilerplate, instead of re-frame is kind of like having to use Java at work instead of Clojure. Some of us are just lucky, I guess.
