I'm pretty sure he's doing that. The problem is that if you were to give away all your money and the underlying system that creates poor people doesn't change, well, then giving away all your money is noble but kinda pointles

A similar thing happens on npmjs.com where it shows downloads for packages, which is often used as a metric of quality. However, everytime a build pipeline runs and it pulls the package, that's a download.

I learned programming on an Olivetti M24 using GW-BASIC. The M24 supported SCREEN 3 (a mode you do not see supported in this manual) that was 640x400 black & white. Good times.

Nice UI. I wish it would be possible to reorder the locations so that they can be offsetted correctly. Eg. for me Sydney is the first column. Then New York and I added Bangkok. Bangkok is closer to me timezone wise (i.e. they are a few hour

The author should provide more context around this article. From the title I assumed this was about software solution design, like architecture or something. But reading through the article I get the impression the author is referring to UI

The oldest possession I have is a book titled Programming QUICKBASIC 4. It was published in 1989 and must have gotten it around 1990. I had an older book titled Programming GW-BASIC, which must have been from around 1987/1988, but it s

When doing talks at meetups, do you present a version (mvp?) of your product or are you doing a talk on a topic that aligns with the meetup subject and at the end, oh by the way, I have this product you might like to try.

I don't think it's the transpile part that would the issue, it's the runtime aspect. If Gleam transpiles to Erlang/Javascript that's great but once you run the program, you have to potentially deal with runtime issu

I was browsing some website this morning and noticed it had "shit" plastered all over it. Turns out those where ads, something I hadn't seen like that in quite some time. Checking my Chrome extensions, uBlock origin is gone.

How do we know that banks are making these errors if no one checks? It might be a few bucks on your account here and there but if that happens over millions of customers... That's a nice little scheme for banks to get away with.

Cool as this is, this isn't the QBasic that came with Microsoft DOS back in the day. It seems to be written in QB64 which is a modern BASIC distribution that retains compatibility with MS Qbasic. E.g. to open the TCP/IP connection
