I would suggest having folks enter their city, geocoding it, and then saving that lat/long into the database so it can be visualized as a map later. Here's some HTML/JS code for a form + map: http://pastebin.com/57nw4awx And then you can

I worked on Wave (and loved it) and I am similarly falling in love with the real-time thrill of this. (And the anonymous nature... finally, all my true feelings can come out).

That is indeed an interesting idea. I'm not sure about this promise though: "YOU remain in control of them, so you never end up starring in your own sex tape scandal if a nasty breakup occurs." I'm guessing most people would be uploading vi

RSS readers may be dying (I admit that I once was a Google Reader fanatic and now only log in time to time), but RSS/ATOM as a format for communicating between websites is still pretty decent. I often setup an ATOM feed for the data on what

Growing up, I only knew how to cook spaghetti and chocolate chip cookies. I figured everything else was in the realm of gourmets, and then I went to work for Google, and I never really needed to cook. But lately I got interested in cooking

I read "Good Calories, Bad Calories" last year and just read "Why We Get Fat" yesterday(both available on Kindle!). GCBC is a good, long read with a lot of insight into the issues with science in the last 100 years. WWGF is much more focuse

My input as a girl that was introduced to computers at a young age: I was introduced to programming as a way of creating things, and as someone who likes creating things, it really excited me. The first things that I made were webpages (inc

I'm usually on a Linux or SSHed into a Linux and use vim most of the time (in combination with screen). When I occasionally have to do Java, I use Eclipse. If I'm stuck with only my Windows box, then I use Notepad++ instead of vim. Here's a

Yeah, that's a good point. I guess I think that I would have enjoyed some of the activities (e.g. I do watch some Sci-fi flicks), but as they had a perception of me not being like them, they assumed I wouldn't like anything at all. But, rig
