I use searchGPT more than google but I use both much more rarely than before ChatGPT entered the scene, because the various LLMs cover a lot of basic knowledge and they have the ability to filter down recent preprints and papers to my needs

Personally I enjoy ess in Emacs because it is easy to search and mix code from multiple locations/buffers in addition to having separate sessions, and I love the interactive mixing of shell, python and R in one place, the ease to inclu

It would be nice to also have a competition of this type where within ressonable limits the size of the compressor does not matter and the material to be compressed is hidden and varied over time. For example up to 10GB compressor size and

Thats a cool idea. Could the LLM find the right location for the audio stream by simply having the context of the buffer, and the location of the text and audio cursor when the intersction starts?

Agreed. That is what the original poster said. I didnt manage to reproduce the error on my end, but I dont know the full context or maybe the memory on my end changes the output.

The title in HN is inaccurate. Having a 1% higher score on one metric is not beating a previously published model. This is a replicate, which is fine enough.

How much easier is it to get the tree-sitter spec implemented for a new language compared to LSP? Are there synergies in getting both to work?

Dont underestimate the glacial kinetics of existing laws. I dont recall many examples of legal regulation that took lots of lobbying and years of planning to pass, to then be changed within years. Sometimes non-permanent laws, such as exec

There is a difference between plain shells (as in M-x shell and variants) and terminals (as in M-x vterm, or ansi-term) in Emacs. The former are essentially an infinite buffer without ncurses; the latter are full terminals with ncruses and

My bad on the 6 D V estimate; you are correct that if they do a dense decoding (rather than a hierarchical one as google used to do in the old days) the cost is exactly 6 D V. I cannot edit the GP comment and I will absorb the shame of my

3USD/hour on the H100 is much more expensive than a reasonable amortized full ownership cost, unless one assumes the GPU is useless within 18 months, which I find a bit dramatic. The MFU can be above 40% and certainly well above the 3

If you can ssh to the remote, you can simply use Emacs (dired and trump). I suppose the advantage here is that once you turn a machine into a file server you can access it from other devices.

I use M-x shell and variants in Emacs for almost all of my command line work. No problems with editing, as it is always Emacs on top. For true ncurses apps there are some limitations inside vterm or ansi term but even there, I can still use

I’m not sure what you mean. You can see the plots if you prefer, or think of it this way: out of a total of 100 trials, one team gets 40 and the other gets 60 = 40 + 40 * 50% If you want to think of a 75% win rate as a more extreme example:

I’m not sure why 60 vs 40 is slightly better than random chance. A person using this system has a 50% higher success rate than those not using it. I wouldnt call this a slight better result.

I am not sure why you didnt see the citations to 3 different papers from Cristiano. A simple search in the linked PDF suffices: citations 12, 19, and 31.

It doesnt help if one entity says that. It might have helped if there was a way to guarrantee that all entities do it (rather than say it) and there is exactly zero chance of that happening globally for both technical and practical reason
