I was about to complain that Chrome wasn't popping up the context menu on right-click. So the .js file is disabling right click? How exactly do I look at the source without it? Hmm. Aha: "Wrench icon" -> Tools -> View Source

Heh. For what it's worth (and at the risk of karma annihilation), you're probably correct. A lot of the seemingly-godly things people have done are from 'simple tricks' that they've learned. People just don't like to admit it. Woz was as

Oh, the ego of us humans. The one constant throughout the history of science is that Nature's imagination is substantially more vast than our own. What if we discover that "old" has an entirely different meaning after light has traveled for

Mm... Fair point. It just seems like another fundamental change to allow twitter messages to go to >5 people at a time. What would be the limit then? Ten people? A hundred? Maybe limiting the number of people at all is a bad thing

Keeping in mind, people 200 years from now may look back on this comment and go "Ha ha, people used to think crazy things like 'the universe is only 14 billion years old'".

Completely agree. (It's important for your comment to be worded like that, and not just "you shouldn't learn C++ and game programming at the same time". Otherwise a lot of the context is lost.) That said, if I had to do it over, I wouldn't

Dot product. Here's a random list of thoughts, speaking as a graphics and game programmer: First, you hardly ever have to even think about "perspective transformation". Put it out of your mind until you're ready to attempt acquiring advanc

This is terrible advice. Someone wants to get into gamedev, and the first project you want him to do is "build a raytracer"? Obviously you're just a terrible person trying to discourage the guy, so foo on you.

Oh, sorry... if you're asking whether it's possible to hack the "crappy rand()" such that it has more entropy by constantly re-seeding from MT... then I have no idea =) I just use MT itself.

Wow, that was fast. Nice. The truth is this: if you ever hear the phrase "re-seeding", you should reinterpret it as "warning! danger!" because if you seed a random number generator more than once, you destroy any entropy ('true' randomness

Actually, if you seed your random number generator more than once ("re-seed"), then you're completely destroying your entropy. Which is obviously the exact opposite of what you're trying to achieve.

You should use a Mersenne Twister rather than rand(). That rand() probably only has 32767 discrete values. So your time is quite imprecise, in addition to being biased. (C's rand() is very biased, so if that code forwards to rand(), then

No... I may as well explain what happened, to put it into context. I was about 19 at the time, and sort of naive. I was trying to figure out why the local coffee shop needed to pay so much money for their internet service. One of the rec

You should edit your post to include reasons why WebPutty is "a bad thing". (I have no idea; I'm a gamedev guy, but I find webdev very interesting. It's hard to know what to avoid and what to embrace when you're new.)
