"mankind" has always struck me as unnecessarily exclusive. Why not "people", "humankind", etc? Such a simple substitution that honors the fact that all people are not men.

The notes that this app is playing, from lowest to highest, are: B3 C#4 F#4 G#4 C#5 D#5 E5 G#6 B6 C#7 F#8 G#8 These notes are all diatonic, e.g. from the same key (unlike all the keys on a piano). That key is C# relative minor (or E major).

Clinical experience and research indicates that validation of the person’s felt experience is usually going to lead to more efficacious resolution of their symptoms. I.e.: “That sounds really hard! I’m sorry to hear that.” Then, just wait!
