How can larger number of coins be an advantage (or disadvantage for that matter)? As long as the supply is fixed it doesn't matter if the total is just 1 coin or 100 trillion coins.

I guess I indeed missed this recent confiscate event. Can you point me to where I can read about it? Last major financial disaster I've heard about is Cyprus. Where people deposited money in the banks, the banks gambled with the money and l

Can anyone clarify why is he expecting to be paid $600K for his legal fees? I thought that in US the party which lost the case is not obligated to cover the legal fees of the winner. Which is one of the things that makes patent trolls thriv

I don't get your post either. On first glance, MerchantWarehouse seems to be servicing US businesses only. "Just calling" them from Europe would likely result in a very short conversation :)

It would be nice if the CTF site could be kept alive (meaning you can still solve the puzzles and move up in levels) for another month or so. Not as a 'competition', as it was, but just to allow more people to fiddle with it. I got in late

I see people here mostly talk about effects fasting has on health but not much about effects on mental/physical performance. If you live longer but you're less effective in what you do, fasting turns into a much less attractive choice, at

500K/month would mean 50,000 paying users and I'm pretty sure they don't have that. How can they hire 10 people? The same way other cash-strapped startups can - by giving equity instead of big salary.

I, too, am of the the type that learns better by reading, rather than listening but this format provides some additional "incentives" for the hardcore procrastinator who plans to read that AI textbook "later". Most important of all, if you

Let's say I own a building which I'm renting for $10M/year and I employ 10 people to service the building. Are these employees "bringing" me $1M on average? Or maybe the main factor is that I own a building, worth millions? Anyway, I know y

Sure. There is no such thing as "unemployment" either. If you're willing to work for $1/month that is. It's about market reality, not about greedy CEOs who try to screw the hard working developers.. If the best programmer you can hire is ex

The correct term is nationalization . As far as I'm aware, there have been many nationalized foreign companies in Venezuela but the owners are getting paid. Given that I haven't heard anyone complaining, the prices are probably fair. So, t

Check out peepcode.com - the "Play by Play" series with Zed Shaw and Gary Bernhardt. The videos are not specifically dedicated to vim tips and tricks but since the programming is done on vim you should be able to find something interesting.

Well, given some kind of power law distribution, I don't think the $5M are that far off. In fact, this suggests that my guess may have been on the higher end: http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/02/income-inequality-in... It says average

I'm a huge fan of Warren Buffet but in this case I think the math just doesn't seem right. I don't have the exact numbers, I took data from wikipedia and the NYT article, so, please, let me know if my math is way off. From the article, ther
