Your comment makes me think of how short-sighted laziness is endemic or maybe engrained on a cultural level. Or even worse, it's a natural part of our decision-making processes, but I really think culture can overcome it. Solving the probl

One feature Uploadify still retains over this plugin: The Flash upload dialog allows you to restrict what file types (by extension) are selectable, which can prevent some people from uploading the .JPG when you only accept audio files, etc.

That sort of "control" wouldn't necessarily be conclusive; Bing could be using click data weighed by a prior calculation of how trustworthy the clicked-on site is (e.g. an analogue of PageRank score), whereupon clicks on Google would rank m

My first thought was that it was click data, and not outright copying. If a bunch of Google employees with Bing toolbar start clicking on links to some made-up term, that should spike the data enough to change results within a few weeks.

A good SOAP library lets you plug in a WSDL and returns an API object with all the methods of the webservice. There is literally no equivalent capability for REST. You shouldn't be doing any of the things you describe by hand. You are vas

You Are Doing It Wrong. Anybody that tries to interface with a SOAP interface by writing envelopes by hand is wasting their time and half-implementing the (long, terrible, complicated, blah blah) spec. Find a good toolkit. Yes, the protoco

And they should. It's easy to turn a WSDL into an exhibit for a contract, because it is a description of an API that can be converted to human readable and machine readable formats. There is no equivalent for REST, and most REST services

The only issue I have with TotalFinder--and I paid for it a while back--is that I would love to have the freeform visor mode, but have it correctly pop above the dock as it does for full-width instead of overlapping it. I know it's in your

The best "power replacement" for anything on OS X is not an app, it's a piece of hardware: an SSD. If you still have a hard drive, go get an SSD replacement--it makes a world of difference for OS X performance. I couldn't imagine going ba

What use is the social captcha if your friends list is public? Many people had this set because it was the new default when the settings switched some half-year ago. A lot of them probably don't even realize it.

I think the main difference for me between this and Selenium would be that Selenium offers some macros to click an element, or simulate a drag and drop between two elements. If you added those in here--wouldn't be too much more, I don't th

I'd agree with you on this; this kind of markup+CSS does not exactly say "toggle button" to the next coder to read it. The most problematic thing, actually, would be that the toggle action hack used here changes window.location.hash and th

And that sort of sandboxing would prevent a theme from hiding some spammy HTML in its code? I can think of many ways to do that, some of which don't even involve templating-level functions and just rely on the HTML level alone. You're comp
