My understanding is that the actual drones themselves do run a hard realtime operating system. Linux (and formerly Windows) is used to run the workstations on the ground that the drone pilots use.

I'm happy to help. I take a lot of notes, and I have not yet found a note-taking system that I'm completely happy with. Regarding handwriting recognition, I understand that, handwriting transcription is hard. You would need to be able to

Ideas can not always be represented well with just text; they seem to require at least the ability to create arbitrary arrangements of text and diagrams in two dimensions. That being said, many of my notes are done in vim with some unholy

You beat me to it, this has literally been sitting at the top of my "one of these days" list for a few weeks now. Looks great, I'll be trying it out tonight.

X forwarding doesn't really address that problem, and anyway, it's slow and flaky enough over a gigabit LAN, let alone a typical internet connection.

Due to the fact that you have to either assume users already have SL4A installed on their systems, or package it with your app, it's certainly not an ideal solution for developing a typical Android Market app. There are definitely a lot of

You're probably joking, but in case you're not aware, it's possible to develop Android apps in many languages other than Java. Other JVM languages like Scala [1,2] are perhaps the easiest. C and C++ (and feasibly other languages that can

That's nonsense. First of all, there's basically no way that botching an OS install should be able to damage hardware, and for anything other than a hard drive problem the vast majority of retailers will accept returns with the drive remov

The raw budget comparison is not the end of the United States' military superiority; the US has access to cruise missiles and aircraft targeting systems that allow them to put a precisely-measured dose of explosive through practically any w

The reason you couldn't find a quality, intermediate example of autoconf is that there is no such thing; it's an obtuse and painful tool. As someone else mentioned, cmake is a much better choice.

Hakyll is pretty widely used, as well (at least it seems that way to me, maybe that's just my confirmation bias). I was surprised not to see it on the list in the OP.

Hear, hear. Remapping capslock to control is one of the first things I do upon setting up a new OS, and I use vim. ctrl+[ is equivalent to esc, and with the Control key easily accessible from the home row I still get to use the window man

In light of his giving away his dividends last year to his employees[1], I think it's hardly appropriate for anyone to call him 'greedy' or an 'ass'. He actually seems like a genuinely great guy. [1] http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/

Even if no one is actually that ridiculous, sexism (often the unintentional and ignorant variety rather than the intentionally malicious one) is fairly rampant in programming circles. That's something we fix, and the first step is to make
