He states that there was more air travel in Europe, and more trips taken in general because of HSR on routes that used to be serviced by air, thus there was no decrease in pollution, instead an increase. This is such a regressive attitude t

I was just looking for this over the weekend, and found it this morning. When I talk about code to collaborators in email or chat, I always try to link to the file on github rather than just giving a path. I much prefer to recieve feedback

To be more clear, there are two main parts of bokeh. First there is the js portion which uses canvas to create the plots. There is an object model that allows plots to be composed of multiple components (glyphs, data sources, axes, data r

That is exactly the point of bokeh. It allows you to write python code and get browser based plots. Currently we have a python interface, but we intend to build interfaces in other langauges. Look at the examples gallery, which include t

We will be adding stream datasources (which allow pulling from 3rd party jsonp feeds) for bokeh 0.4. We expect to release bokeh 0.4 in early 2014. It is incredibly easy to use bokeh from python. The burtin example in the gallery reads fro

I think you should learn the relational model (not SQL). Understand the problems it was trying to solve and how the relational model solves them. Then figure out how that applies to your app. Database in Depth was helpful for me http:&

Well people cry cry crying about their bonds that can't be paid our a source of a market inefficiency. They are a sign that people over invested in utilities instead of putting that money to a more productive use.

This points to the need for less restrictive zoning. There are cheaper ways to house people than in a moving bus. They are willing to pay, maybe not the full rate, but they are paying something. Build army barracks style residences (whic

Supposedly BMW did that to their turbo F1 engines in the eighties. They would have a bunch of blocks sitting out in the cold, and they would pee on them to age them. That and welding the cylinder head to the block gave them 1500 hp out of

Actually we drive less and less per person since ~2004. And the total Vehicular Miles Travelled has been the same since 2004, even though population is growing. This is a significant trend. http://www.theatlanticcities.com

I use Dorco too. I think I might give razors as Christmas presents. It's nice to not be nickled and dimed. I started with DSC, I like what they are doing, but I don't think they are building a very defensible business model.
