Reporter posted this: "...which is why we are moving to a supported, fairly-recent platform". I'm guessing it's the support their after.

Sure, it's probably easy to tell for someone who's a regular reader of CNN. However, I believe that most people - even several (if not many) from HN - will see the CNN header, then read the article and assume it's CNN. They should be A LOT

Interesting article you linked to and something to consider certainly. That being said, I somewhat disagree with you about the histograms being misleading. His color scheme looks to be based much the same as thermal imaging. Which I find is

You're right. We already have started sliding down the slippery slope. So I guess the question is... Should we dig in our heels, or just ride it and see where it takes us? It's certainly an interesting question. One I'm not qualified to ans

Hey. Sorry for a majorly delayed response. Looks like I have two rules for this. They might be able to be optimized into one, but - I'm lazy too. com##IFRAME[src^="http://www.facebook.com/] ##IFRAME[src*="facebook.com"] edit: Not

While in theory I don't mind the idea of a .js TLD... This is a can of worms. Just think about all the other programming languages out there and how many other hackers for those would want their own TLD. Then let's expand that out for basic

@taze There is a way. It's called noscript. Does a terrific job of staying on top of issues like this. Also because of this example I went one step further and used AdBlock to block any iframe with a facebook url. @general The facebook butt

Looks really great and seems like a useful tool. My only real complaint, is that I use a high sensitivity on my mouse and I found it difficult to highlight a line. If you could make the lines slightly thicker, it would be easier to select t

I also started with QBasic, Nibbles and Gorillas. I then moved on to writing my own implementation of Hangman. Oh the memories!

I wouldn't listen to anyone hating on VLC. Everyone will always have their preference. Personally, I find VLC to be a fantastic low-friction video player that covers all my needs (except for blu-ray which still lacks full functionality even

The blurring happens in Firefox 10. It also makes the whole 'page' shift a couple pixels. It's really disruptive and ruins the whole effect.

This move makes no sense to me. Blocking US users will not stop them from seeking out foreign users uploading 'infringing' content. It's also as easily circumvented as the tactics many Europeans use to access those lame American sites that

Ah. Yes. I think you're right. I think PHP is still complied for 32-bit on Windows. That makes more sense.

Yes and No. I run a 64-bit Windows 7 machine, but oddly enough the Fedora 14 machine is 32 bit. Yet it yields similar numbers to the 64-bit Windows.

Not sure exactly what you were trying. Using the [] syntax is common for appending elements (using the next available key). Otherwise you can use the array functions (array_push/pop/etc). As for plain operators, here is how PHP handles arra

Did anyone else even try running his suggested code? I think maybe he has a problem with his setup. I don't get those numbers. My numbers for PHP 5.3.8: Windows 7 - 8524568 bytes (using range) 3600584 bytes (using SplFixedArray)

The real truth being that not even one thinks the same way. Some people learn better with visuals versus some who prefer text. Some people see no problem with Vehicle->Car or Animal->Duck or whatever other ultra basic OO example. In
