I don't see this as either or. Good quality asserts can be very effective when managing objects with complex state transitions For me assertions are for invariants. The code has no expectation of successful execution I also like (borro

Arguably this, and similar cases, is what motivated Microsoft to become an aggressive patent filer. I know that at various times in my tenure there (99–13) that I was on teams where patent filing was encouraged

Particularly the way coleslaw is presented in the US. You can make a perfectly delicious and healthful coleslaw without mayonnaise or cream (or sugar!) I just looked at the ingredients of a premade coleslaw (Safeway). The second and third i

Poured concrete almost always needs reinforcement, which is typically done with steel bars (rebar), which would presumably mess with the capacitance. Maybe making cinder blocks (breezeblocks) out of this would be more interesting

Where does the undercurl come from? TFA credits kitty, which I understand to mean supporting undercurl in a terminal. My first experience of it was with the spell checker in Microsoft word circa 1993, does anyone have an earlier sighting?

In Washington state at the very least this isn't true. The default parenting division is 50:50, and there would need to be strong extenuating circumstances for a parent that wants 50% parental time to not get it. In my experience men a

It's definitely a rhetorical challenge, and even if TFA is using a poor analogy, it does serve to illustrate this problem, which feels to me like part of what it is trying to communicate. I have a lot of experience thinking that I get

I use vim digraphs pretty extensively, but typically for comments, and not code. It's nice to be able to concisely document anything mathematical this way, it's also cute to be able to use the box drawing characters

I can see some interesting approaches here. Given n threads/workers you could divide the search space into n sample points (for simplicity let's divide it evenly) and run the repeated test on each point. When a point hangs, that e

Of course gimbal lock is a thing, and there are ways to avoid it, even without quaternions, but I'm curious as to when it should be avoided. I think that gamers are now so used to it, that removing it might cause more problems than it
