What other languages do you have experience with? IMO the syntax is not wildly different from other statically typed curly bracket languages. IMO the most alien thing it has in terms of syntax is the use of a single quote for lifetime param

You can do that without HKT, using FromIterator (which is also used by the widely used iterator method "collect"). Here is an implementation: https://play.rust-lang.org/?version=stable&mode=release&edit...

Steam does have that - kind of. There's a "servers" window, which you can open from the View menu. It lists multiplayer servers for lots of different games - mostly Source engine games like CS:GO and Team Fortress 2, but also

> C-likes also don't often have first-class functions/closures I think C is the only remaining C-like language not to have first-class functions. And there are compiler extensions for that too.

This announcement just means they'll call the next version of .NET Core .NET 5 and kill the original Framework for good. They are not abandoning .NET Core, just changing the branding.

I don't understand what you're trying to demonstrate with your example. Your TS(?) example is needlessly complicated, and syntactically invalid. Here's a better TS implementation: togglePanel = (panelToggle: bool) => t

As a fan and user of both Rust and VS Code, it's still pretty bad. It crashes less than it used to six months ago, but the autocompletion is still near useless. It doesn't support traits as far as I can tell, for example.

This must have been some time ago. The .NET runtime / C# compiler you're thinking of is Rotor, a version of the runtime for educational use released back in 2006. Mono has followed the official implementation quite closely for at

Rust doesn't currently have higher-kinded types, which are a separate feature from typeclasses. Implementing a true Functor trait is impossible without HKT, though the lack of it and other FP abstractions generally speaking hasn't

Are you aware the TypeScript has mapped types and conditional types[1]? The vast majority of Flow's type utils can be implemented in TypeScript, and many of them are included by default[2]. As far as I can tell all of Flow's utili
