It doesn't matter how large the asset is, it matters what the method used to read the asset is. Not every application will read in a specific size, but 4KiB isn't uncommon.

macOS is not FreeBSD. It’s Darwin which contains some FreeBSD subsystems built atop Mach, and some FreeBSD userland. https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/Da...

I wouldn’t call it simple. It does have Python scripting. Obviously not the functionality she needed, but that’s fairly advanced in the Excel world. And that’s the issue with every alternative, it lacks 1:1 features/bugs so what’s usab

Gamers also fall into the read/write number trap. When tested, that type of workload performs just about the same from PCIe 3.0 through 5.0 due to the 4KiB often random access. And in some cases, there was only a minor delta between PC

While not the same issue, I took four 500GB Samsung 850 EVO drives and created a Storage Space out of them for Hyper-V VMs. Under any sort of load the volume would reach ~1 second latency. This was on a SAS controller in JBOD mode. Switched

Reread my comment. Yes, macOS (or ARM, here) wastes memory. For every 1KiB page you have, you're wasting 15KiB of memory. That's just how this works. It's a performance vs. efficiency tradeoff. And there's nothing specia

MacOS isn’t more memory efficient, you can’t be when using 16KiB pages vs 4KiB. That’s a lot of wasted memory.

You're conflating two issues. The Purview search used to get the bad result wasn't clear, so unsure what system is doing the logging.

Copilot pulls from the substrate, like many other apps. No files are store in Copilot. They’re usually on ODSP but could be in Dataverse or a non-Microsoft product like Confluence (there goes your moat!).

This isn’t an example of escalation. Copilot is using the user’s token similar to any other OAuth app that needs to act on behalf of the user.

Not that Chrome is great, but those “technical” tests leave a lot to be desired. And I love the performance measurement of Safari on iOS vs Safari UIWebView… That iOS performance for Chrome is entirely due to Apple’s restrictions.

The purpose behind the new right-click menu is performance. The old right-click menu would load modules (typically 3rd party) that would cause significant lag on first-click [of a specific type of file].

That's not the correct question to ask. There's no reason to fully transition the ecosystem to any one singular architecture, Microsoft has always been happy since the origin of NT 3.1 to run some flavor of Windows on non-x86 arch

I used to configure Windows, now I don't bother. But with Linux, I do because I must. Many OOTB defaults just aren't great, or some part of it requires configuration. LoD is _fine_ but not great. (Slackware 4.0 was great)
