I know, but I've been a Debian user for ever and I quite like the way Debian works. For sure I wouldn't mind more recent version of KDE being available in the backport repository.

I couldn't agree more. For a long time I've been using a very minimal environment on Linux. That means no desktop environment, just a minimal window manager (it was OpenBox) and a simple terminal (rxvt-unicode). For more than 10

Kate is one of these software that I follow with interest and would really like to use, but after years and years of Emacs I have a hard time in other text editors. Are there any Kate users here? Have you used Kate for ever? If not what did

Your argument, even if considered valid only cover one part of the problem with the title. Many paid services also violate users privacy. So no, the correlation of "free" and "violates privacy" is not that strong.

Disqus could be free and not behave this way. Disqus could be a paid for service and still behave this way.

Why not use a language that has the benefits of TS + everything you say and is designed to be independent from JS. I'm thinking of OCaml for example. Why not use OCaml rather than TS? Edit: Actually the idea is so obvious that you have

I once developed an entire CMS in Bash and Zenity. We could not use dynamic languages on the web server and only had an SSH access to a very restricted machine. The users where not technical and resented command line interface. So I learned

It clearly makes a difference for me. My servers which have SSH listening on port 22 have countless failed login attempts. Those running it on another random port have almost none.

It's a nightmare to find examples of Blech code on this website. All I could find after a dozen of clicks is zip archive to download that should contain sample code in them… Anyway, how does it compare to Lustre for example?
