My favourite was a function to swap either a byte, word or dword with a single ret. The function would have three entry points, calling itself recursively like hanoi-towers.

I've found that many confuse the question "is it a viable programming language?" with "does it stand a chance to be top-10 popular?". The second proposition is much harder than the first, and many language will need

Even as an desktop developer, often Linux is 2% of the user base, very vocal, used to software being free, and with infinite OS variations. That's not very compelling.

I've implemented RSS for my blog because its pull mode instead of push mode (like god awful notifications everyone wants you to enable). I don't know if anyone uses it though!

You'll mechanically get rewards in terms of bugs reported, paid bug fixes, paid enhancements etc. Useful software brings value to it by the virtue of being useful. There is also a mechanical incentive to contribute back, which is "

The restrictive licenses bring nothing to the table. It is an outdated dogma. We ought to choose licences that actually enable software to be written, without needless hurdles. Apple, MS and Google understood this, and they release swathes

That's why I use Discord, the free tier has _unlimited_ history. The client itself is lightweight, and it's an incremental improvement on IRC in many other areas, as you would expect. Still using IRC of course :)

What I get from your post is that in less than 10 years, people that get such a short training will be good regardless. Maybe then good programmers will become a commodity: this will surely change a thing or two.
