> it is a very bad model for real time audio plugins and audio host support COM is just 3 predefined calls in the virtual table. CLAP gives you a bunch of pointers to functions, which is similar.

Yes but. How would you express NaN or infinities or even precise floating-point (the reason hex float exist) in this format? That breaks interchange if you cannot save/restore floating-point as in the save.

4 lanes of SIMD (like in say SSE) is not necessarily 4x faster because of the memory access, sometimes it's better than that (and often it's less). PSHUFB wins in case of unpredictable access patterns. Though I don't remember

They said it in the Epic vs Apple litigation, something along the lines of "we create the entire App Store market", like the 3rd party developers aren't.

I'm using: - TODO: will be needed before release, mandatory or else turn into another category. Blocks release. - FUTURE: will be turned in to a TODO eventually, optional, often architectural - MAYDO: nice to have, very optional - PERF

We've added formant shifting to Graillon https://www.auburnsounds.com/products/Graillon.html largely because LLMs thought it already had formant-shifting.

Even if this was Apache in the first place, you're not supposed to remove Copyright lines in source code.

Sorry, those keywords work in block like those, or relatively to a single function, in any order.

I don't think you're wrong, I have used D for 19 years and don't really use the UFCS dot style, it requires too much context. Just loops are more readable. In D you don't have much decisions forced on you tbh.

Strangely my favourite feature after 18 years of D programming (!) is that could place keywords largely in the order you like. It is strangely liberating to be able to put: pure nothrow @nogc: or pure: nothrow: @nogc

Programming education should have more humanities such as writing, sociology, epistemology and design, and not nearly as much maths.

I wanted to use HALIC but ended up using SQZ instead. QOI is overrated but QOIR and my own QOIX are a bit more interesting, albeit ultimately stupid.

But this is exactly what the higher ups want according to Braverman, they will insist on "know-how" being non-existent, and always push to tell workers what they - of course - know of the work, that we peons would ignore.

This is unfortunately my take with almost every interaction I had with the Rust community. Expressing any diverging opinion is enough to get ostracized.

I'm using D for audio plugins and we do use CTFE extensively (named comptime in Zig). Zig might be a bit more fit maybe because of the easier C and C++ interop and targetting, but I'm not sure about the COM and OOP story.

I found this book very helpful to understand most cellular process, and viruses, with an intuition of how things works at these scales: https://www.amazon.com/Machinery-Life-David-S-Goodsell/dp/03...
