I was wondering about this too; I did not even go to college. I graduated HS at 14 and started working for companies developing software. Will this put me at a disadvantage if there are lots of MIT, Stanford etc... grads that apply to YC W

The plethora Erlang articles is simply an effort to drive out the people that keep posting lame stories that have no place on hacker news and return to more technical stuff that we all want to read. If it means we don't have so many mainst

I spent lots of time working for ad agencies in NYC; while there I noticed that their clients kept asking them to identify and engage influencers. They constantly had a hard time with this and more often than not the client was disappointe

Well... the thing is that I am almost done with my product. I have landed about 15 contracts so by the time I go up to SF I will have clients using the software. Part of my concern is that I am so far along I am not sure if the title "co-

I have all of those skills and I have been looking for a co-founder that does also. Perhaps I should just focus on a co-founder that has one of the aforementioned talents.

2 were older guys with families and could not commit. I want people that are as dedicated and experienced as I am. The other 1 simply could not code worth a damn so I felt like he was dead weight.

I agree...but we are still out there. I think one of the problems is that "hacking" / "hacker" has become a synonym for "programmer" / "software engineer". But there are still real hackers out there; like people that sell 0days just to eat

I agree with jpwagner... In Paul Grams essay "Startups in 13 sentences" #10 is Avoid Distractions. I would consider school a distraction even if you do find time to work on your startup its not the main focus of your life.

I think this is a good idea; I am a founder looking for a good co-founder and I have found it hard to find good talent since I am not currently enrolled in school or plugged into one of the talent networks (Google, FB etc...).
