Yea, that didn't sound too bad and he didn't spend much time talking about the actual burnout itself. Maybe there are two kinds of burnout; one is "tired of coding" and the other is "tired of life". The preferable one is quite obvious, alt

So small business owners trying to prevent their forums from become cesspools of curses should be considered "Nazis"? This post illustrates the same alarmist tone that trolls normally do. He's trolling people because they're trying to stop

Fair enough, but that's 1/3. Of course, none of the three were exactly poor, and all grew up with programming backgrounds. We'll see who takes charge these next 20 years.

Let's look at the opportunity cost of you leaving. You get to do something more significant to you that's more valuable. And also, someone else (who may actually want it) new gets an offer from Goldman Sachs. So you're helping that new p

I don't read newsletters. While some do, their use is dying and being replaced with new forms of social media. Even if your business becomes huge, it's going to be facing a market that's declining. That doesn't seem like fun.

Tread lightly. There seem to be dozens, hundreds of new philanthropic web services, and almost all of them have an incredibly difficult time of distinguishing themselves. My suggesting is to stay very narrow to one field. Better yet, join

This makes Facebook seem more creepy. To me and anyone already concerned they have to much user information. One alternative would be to have Facebook sponsor a new independent local charity to do exactly this. People can relate to a loca

So far it hasn't been at all, that was the point of the test: "The system had been operating in a trial mode, without publicity for three months, during which it received several genuine reports and no hoaxes, according to Samaritans." Does

Sounds great, but I bet a few months after they finally purchase them everyone will wonder what pilots are doing with outdated iPads.

It's not where you are. It's where you're going. I liked this article, but my experiences have been different. From what I've seen, it seems like broad career choice is also incredibly significant; and that's something rich kids often get

Honestly, I really don't mind the SMS charge. Sure, each text isn't very expensive, but cell phone companies have to take huge risks to build the infrastructure to send those texts. It's kind of like bashing Facebook for charging for "virt

Singapore too isn't perfect. They don't charge as much as in the U.S., but it's still much greater than zero. Phone plans in general are much more reasonable here (prepaid phone plans are much more common, I got a SIM card with a decent a

Looks nice, but I don't want more Ruby books. There are too already too many and I never get through them. Why not more interactive tutorials? The one on the Ruby website is good but very short. I liked Rails for Zombies, and I actually

The Social Network made me like Sean Parker more. Sure, he was a bit of a douche (in the movie), but he was a douche who did something substantial and made something incredibly useful that probably wouldn't have made it so far otherwise.

I've been using Dropbox to create a rails app with two other developers. We upload to Github every few days. This is a bit crude, but it's been insanely simple. I like being able to see updates in quasi-real time.

I don't like that title. Had me thinking Firefox was preparing to shrivel down under Chrome. I became really, really sad for a minute. For the last few months I've used Chrome because of it's speed and elegant interface. But I really pref

As Mark Zuckerberg would say, your startup is "too useful". I'm surprised that everyone here seems so focussed on your landing page. It may be a thousand times better than the first, and it may still need improvement, but what is more impo
