Yea this is something I'd love to see standardised, a distro that was able to enforce a .config folder somehow would be a winner for me. Think weve probably missed the boat though.

Do you run any honeypots? You realise the point of a honeypot is, unlike a normal website, to monitor exactly what visitors are clicking on so the trapper can react?

Anything that could be considered in the base layers of Maslov's heirarchy is certainly less affordable. Food, shelter, health, education. Sure lots of consumer goods have got cheaper, but if you've got a big TV and no house to pu

I mean this seems like an attempt at a get out of jail free card. If meta didnt want this info, why are they accepting and processing it?

I have actually been playing around with scoping a privacy first version of these tracking apps that store all the data locally with optional sync. It's technically possible, but there's very little in the way of revenue generatio

LLMs are not/will never be thinking though, no matter how good they get? You could potentially argue that there is some level of cognition during the training phases (as long as that isn't being outsourced to humans anyways), but

I mean if a corps goals dont align with their customers (which almost universally they do not), its pretty safe to assume every action is malicious. Anthropic need to generate profit from a service where users burn cash like it's the w

Yea I guess the issue here is whether you think installing the extenstion should set up the integration or installing the thing being integrated should set up it. Im inclined to think its the extensions responsibility, but I dont think its

It also tells one to SSH in from their PC. Why would I use a phone instead of my PC if that was an option?

The top comment on the post physically hurt me. We've moved past the era of keep env files in code bases and are now actually serving them lol.

Poland are in Nato, I'd expect europe wide deployment on an invasion. Itll definitely be volunteer forces at first, but I wouldn't hold my breath on conscripted forces never being deployed if it goes into a quagmire like ukraine.

Getting involved in local decision making is great, but theres always wire cutters and spray paint for those more inclined on a direct approach. Resisting an the rule of unjust law is always acceptable.

Good for the Germans, in the UK we use marginal cost pricing, so consumers pay for the highest costing output regardless of how much if any they use. Means even if we get gas down to 1% well still be paying gas prices.

This is barely an argument so I'm not going to bother engaging too much but two things, conflating Judaism and Israel is anti-semitic as hell, and ethno-states are bad.

For all our faults I am geniunely impressed by gov.uk. its not pretty, its not particularly fast, and its certainly not flashly, but I've never once not been able to find what I needed or have a flow not work.

Aren't we legislating the wrong problem here then though? I'd argue prioritising the physical security of your drives over encrypting them is a better aim for services. As if someone can physically steal your drives they've s

Right but access to those keys will be available in an unhardened location then? Otherwise you're serving encrypted data. So if the system accessing the data and using the keys is compromised, which we can assume is the case if the dat

Encrypting data at rest is security theatre right? Unless consumers control the keys (which they generally dont want to), the keys will have to be accessible by the system storing the data. So if the system is compromised so are the keys? L

We dont retrain people who get left behind in sector wide redundancies and such now. I admire the optimism, but I'm here for a good time not a long time, and I'm not betting on the future being better than right now.

Other people have replied but to clarify my point, while two languages may operate with a focus on two seperate paradigms, the actual paradigms do not vary. OOP is still OOP whatever language you use, same for functional et al. Sure some la

Without even needing to engage with your argument it falls apart because nations can leave the EU at will. Without getting into the Brexit weeds its proof, we did it. Can't be a tyrant if people can just say no.
