More important is they changed the acceptance criteria to be Merged PRs. That is what it should have always been. Or at least "not closed" PRs.

I can't tell you how much I dislike the non-removable apps. It basically killed my first android phone, which was very low end but fine for my needs when I got it. But it came with a ton of non-removable apps which were fine at first,

We are so strong with the more general Tables.jl abstraction. Tables.jl took us a step away from having lots of types of `AbstractDataFrame`. Subtyping `AbstractDataFrame` is hard, I have to deal with two packages that do it and it is a bi

I call this the: "large-but-not-really-all-that-big data" For if you can fit it in RAM on a high-end machine, and on a single harddrive in a low-end machine. and its practically a more useful case. Since if data is truely big many

The short answer is that you are underestimating the scale. Invenia operates over most of grids in the continental US. Think less "helping one powerplant how much to generate, and thus saving them money on wasted fuel if not needed.&qu

Invenia had run Julia for our primary production system for over a year (nearly 2). The size of our Julia codebase is about 400,000 lines of code, spread over numerous internal and open source packages. You can cite the "we're hir

We have so many AD packages than that in julia. Julia suffers the lisp problem for AD. http://winestockwebdesign.com/Essays/Lisp_Curse.html It is a real problem. One of my on going projects is ChainRules ( http:/&

AST manipulation does not do it for AD in general (though XGrad.jl is doing it as a symbolic diff approach https://github.com/dfdx/XGrad.jl/ ), you want to work with the code reduced down to Single assignment form,

Sadly I can not point you to a single piece of documentation that covers everything. That's definitely an area Julia can improve. Writing down the things "everyone" does, so newcomers don't have to learn them again. The

You are describing every Julia package. These are the rules of the package manager. 1. Every package must declare it's dependencies (and to register must declare compat bounds on them, and good devs do that always anyway) 2. Every pack

My employer uses DataFrames.jl in production. It's fine, nothing wrong with it. Used to be a bit unsafe to unwarey uses, now it's safe by default and you need to do a bit extra to get all the performance. It's worth knowing i

I have concluded that it is basically impossible to write a general purpose delegation macro. I have seen many and alway immediately run into cases they can't handle. A top level `for m in (:foo, :bar); @eval $m(X::MyType) = $m(X.backi

Dynamic languages do do type inference. Or at least they can. Julia does type inference at compile time. The difference is that it doesn't have to succeed. If you write type unstable code then it won't.

One downside is Revise v2 actually itself has a fairly high startup cost. Best alternative is to pin it to Revise v1. I personsally don't mind the startup too much. But I do get where people are coming from
