As a rule, my first step when installing a new appliance is to disassemble and mute the piezo buzzer using some foam and electrical tape. You still hear the signals but not at the obnoxious default of ~120db.

Exactly. Users can't even use their lightning headphones on a new Mac. The move to remove was a mistake, but there is no going back now. That would be admitting to a design flaw.

The environment you describe is also how a third party can get traction. It just needs a few charismatic leaders and good marketing to gain traction and a bot army to flood all social networks. :)
