I think too few companies are throwing out static websites because they think they need something "dynamic" such as a flashy contact form. If they just used static websites and just put an email address and such by which they could be conta

I'm pretty sure any hacker worth his weight in microchips doesn't have a problem. I've been to def con and always take a *nix system with a solid firewall and a way to ssh/vpn home to do all my logging into websites from. DEF CON doesn't sc

Oh look, another text editor. Just use TextMate if you're on Mac OS X. If you want something cross platform use Sublime Text, and if you want to be awesome and have a few days to customize and learn use VIM or Emacs. I use Sublime Text on m

It might arrive faster on a CDN but the time that it takes the user's computer to connect to a DNS server to resolve the CDN may override the benefits if the user has a slow DNS which is a fairly common problem now days. If the server used

It all depends on the size of the file and how fast the user's DNS server is.

This seems to once again miss the point. The main point of a CDN is to speed up delivery of content. Having all of these different CDNs only increases the time it takes because you are adding in more DNS queries to the client and on top of

You don't need a hardware write blocker, the beauty of "burning" an ISO to a thumb drive is that the ISO format doesn't allow writes. There is no way at all to write to it unless you rewrite the drive itself in which case it becomes fairly

I don't think you understand the point of this. It will allow you to create read only USB drives. This means that people who work on computers all the time now don't have to haul a case of CDs around because viruses could possibly jump onto

I really despise all kinds of "built in features". I never use any of them. I much prefer a browser like chrome that is bare minimum. The only plugin I use is Lastpass.

Complaining about Subversion merge is like complaining about how your Apple IIe can no longer use modern software. Subversion and the Apple IIe are outdated and should be migrated away from.

I use Last.fm simply because it's completely free over here in the US, doesn't play ads after the first initial ad and doesn't have time restrictions like Pandora's 72 or something hour limit. I've been messing around with Spotify but I'm s

As a Web Developer I've been doing HTML5 for a few months now. I just use JS libs to fix old browsers. I've produced 20 or so websites already all using HTML5 and none have had "ZOMG YOU AREN'T SUPPORTING MY BROWSER" complaints. (Daily traf

I despise frameworks like this. They cater to a crowd that I don't believe exists. Who goes and wants to just toss together a mobile-friendly site but doesn't have the skill set to do it without a framework like this? The huge companies tha

It's a problem that services like Netflix and Last.fm never consider could happen and when it does they are scrambling everywhere and don't know how to deal with the flames properly, stuff just looks broken. What I have been doing the past

Extremely well built and easy to use from a UX (DX? Developer Experience?) perspective. I have recently been using Sinatra and am loving these extremely minimal frameworks. We just need something like Heroku for Python. Gondor maybe?

In the past 3 years or so I've used Last.fm almost non-stop. It had to be some kind of hack or hosting service explosion.
