Manual transmissions are still great! More fun to drive and an excellent anti-theft device.

Are the intentions of the AI creators icky though? The ick didn't come from nowhere.

I suspect people talk about natural resource usage because it sounds more neutral than what I think most people are truly upset about -- using technology to transfer more wealth to the elite while making workers irrelevant. It just sounds m

You know, this kind of response is a thing that builds with frustration over a long period of time. I totally get it. We're constantly being pushed AI, but who is supposed to benefit from it? The person whose job is being replaced? The

LLMs generate lots of security issues and bugs. Just being "Rust" doesn't automatically fix that. Generating that amount of code means no human review. How could this not end in obvious disaster?

I'm kind of curious about something.. most of my graphics experience has been OpenGL or WebGL (tiny bit of Vulkan) or big engines like Unreal or Unity. I've noticed over the years the uptake of DX12 always seemed marginal though (

I don't know what it's based on, but it works extremely well. I use Rider & WebStorm daily and I find Rider is a lot faster than Visual Studio when it comes to the Unreal Engine codebase and WebStorm seems to be a lot more rel

This guy seems pretty focused on XML based standards, but I think the reason XML based standards are dying is because people don't like working with XML.

I dunno, the stuff they have now doesn't really need a lot of innovation. Like, my MacBook isn't very different from the one I bought in 2013 (other than massive performance improvements of course), but I don't really need it

These things sit in standards comities for years. Firefox has way fewer resources than everyone else, but Safari has no excuse other than that they mostly can't be bothered, because they'd rather you use an app. And honestly I wou

I think this is clever satire, but slightly blunted by the fact that the tech CEO's haven't been that far off from actually saying this stuff. I'm especially disgusted with Sam Altman and Darius Amodei, who for a long time

IE was so much worse than Chrome will ever be. I do occasionally think Safari is the new IE though -- not in terms of terribleness but just in terms of holding back the web by being the slowest to implement big new features.

I wouldn't call myself a hater, just disappointed. The hardware is incredibly powerful, but it's being held back but an OS that's locked down beyond reason. Maybe they just don't want to cannibalize Mac sales or somethin

I guess that's fine, but if that's all you're doing you could easily just get a hundred dollar chromebook. The marketing for this references things like transcode performance for Final Cut Pro. Implying that you would use it

I get the impression they're trying to market this to laptop users. I'm still very skeptical of iPads as a productivity device. The problem isn't the hardware, it's the OS, the app store and the model for selling apps. A

That may be the case some day, but I don't think it's going to happen with LLMs. They get too many things wrong via hallucinations (likely unfixable) and often they can go deep into an (incorrect) rabbit hole burning a ton of toke
