To add: overhead for defer and for calling into C have been reduced pretty significantly with 1.8. Anything that does quite a bit of the latter may see a fair improvement in perf.

I think that's a little pedantic. The point he was making is that, conceptually speaking, the cloud is comprised of servers not unlike the servers you run yourself. The difference, obviously, is who runs them, the manner in which they&

Assuming Tesla parts start with "A" or no letter suffix, that actually doesn't seem too bad, in my experience. The Ford Focus I owned several years ago had 34 revisions made to the door handle assembly by the time I had t

There's an even more difficult playstyle called "ghosting" which 'requires' that the player not even alert a guard past a certain level, let alone knock them out. It's well worth a try if you've never give

But we do need more things to do while waiting for compilation to finish. In addition to making sandwiches, seeing movies, building pyramids, etc., I mean.

Interesting comment. I'm not sure Rust's safety guarantees are what many would consider merely an "implementation detail". Aren't the merits and caveats in any programming language (not with regard to its overall

I only notice the kind of "tabs are slow to open" behavior pretty randomly, and without knowing the state of the rest of my machine at those moments (is there something else pegging a few of my cores for some reason?) I can't

You've not explained how a header-only approach precludes "security, performance, handling of edge cases, memory leaks [presumably you mean the absence of] and reliability".

Multiple parts to a header-only library can be concatenated into a single header file for easier inclusion, however. Some single header-only libraries are actually built this way. I agree with you in principle though. A directory of header

Just look at the Mac Pro, it used to be ATX based which means gamers would buy it to upgrade the video card to play more games. Did any significant number of users actually do that though? I do remember in the Power Mac G5 era that NVIDIA

Absolutely. One of my favorite performers (Daedelus) uses a monome for his live setup, and there's nothing on Earth like a Daedelus set. It would be exceedingly difficult (or essentially impossible) to specifically match or emulate wha

Again, though, the lack of user's truth or faith in a piece of software does not make the software itself worse. We can argue the merits of distrust and of the user's choice to distrust, but the software itself is the same.

I'm having a hard time understanding where this comment is coming from. I can understand if your exposure to DJs has been limited (I'm sure we've all seen performers who are just about useless at truly engaging crowds), but t

It is true that many consumers would benefit from such systems, but unfortunately, drumming up demand by trickling supply into the market is Nintendo's modus operandi.
