I’m just trying to show that there are alternative ways to use Slack for those who are forced to use it. If you and/or your company actively use IRC then my suggestions obviously don’t apply to you.

I also agree with you. It was painful when e.g. Twitter basically killed 3rd party apps. What happens here is that I don’t see any significant portion of Slack users moving to IRC anytime soon. Therefore, if you’re forced to use Slack, you

I don't disagree with you on that - but that's not written in your post so my point still stands. Many of the paint points are solved when using alternative clients. Alternative clients will allow you to, for example: * Use Slack

It seems that the author references different IRC clients but at the same time ignores (can't say if on purpose or not) the fact that there are also alternative Slack clients which address many of the pain points.

The countries you mentioned (for context, I’m from Spain and moved to Finland many years ago) aren’t laid back when it comes to work. These may offer you some improvement compared to US but you usually get poor salaries and not very good co

That was a disappointing response. The overall design is ok but this really felt out of place. Hopefully he realizes that and stops blaming the “puritanical jerks” as he himself said.

If we play the guessing game I'd assume they'd like to make more money, and doing what it's been suggested on this thread is most likely not going to provide any benefit for Slack but more like the opposite. To make my point

I want to remind that Slack is not a simple chat app - it should not be oversimplified, because it has tons of added functionality. Not that you said that but it's easy to fall into that trap. That being said, creating a native app for

The fact that the first thing you see here is a CLI video already puts off most of the people who write in Medium and could hypothetically consider moving away. Since I got downvotes, let me clarify. People who use the terminal can probably

Indeed, proper diet is no secret, and you don’t even need to do exercise (not that you shouldn’t, but it’s not a strict requirement for weight loss at all). It seems that it’s easier to keep blaming the “solved problem” so yet another produ

Most likely not, as it adds quite a bit of complexity. It might be easier to start with simpler abstractions such as e.g. AWS ECS or similar alternatives (cloud or on-prem) if you want to use containers.

I attended KubeCon China last year and there was a very good example of a K8s setup for IoT that scales pretty well. Check these links if you’re curious: - https://schd.ws/hosted_files/kccncchina2018english/18/
