It's a difficult battle in many teams where some people will just go overboard for multiple reasons, usually in this order: fun, fear of being seen as short-sighted and/or promotions. It mainly happens in big orgs and your example

This is it - simple, not easy. You can lie to yourself for a while but not forever. Motivation comes when you do something you like doing.

I can't tell why but I really love the music, it's really cool and somehow cute. It's overall fun and wish it had more "brushes".

In all honesty, being this grumpy after such harmless comment isn't very healthy. Also what OP experiments happens in e.g. my PC and Android as well. I hope you're ok.

Who'd input the credit card on a random website that has suspicious discounts? Who'd give his SSN through the phone to someone saying the bank is calling to verify some details? Who'd believe an email saying that it's th

I get what you mean but I didn't say that attention-grabbing platforms are incompatible with (at least some) interesting content. Also, HN doesn't have many dark patterns (or any?) and I'd not consider it a typical social net

I don't have kids but I never understood why some parents think that their kids have to learn about their passion, specially at such young ages. I understand this in countries where prospects are poor and your best option is stick to t

My very first worry about these things is privacy. Surely work stuff shouldn't be discussed in there but given that E2E isn't mentioned what are the privacy guarantees compared to e.g. Zoom? If no encryption is present then why wo

Wow, I'm in shock. How could Apple let this one slip in? When I was a junior fullstack I had to design a very similar system and this was one of the very basic checks that I had in mind back then. I don't know how could anyone exc

That's been their priority since it was released and "hints" from users are just ignored as anyone can see if you go to the site with a browser and you have to close the banners reminding you to install the app.

I'd say psilocybin ( magic mushrooms ). It doesn't cure depression by itself, it just punches you in the face and shows your reality and then you can decide if you want to change something, everything or nothing. It's cheap,

I also think the modern Windows 10 UI is ugly, but the worst is that it's very inconsistent e.g. right click here and get this popup style, but if you right click there you get another one. Same goes when you browse some computer setti

You’re not alone, I mention this fact in this same comment thread. Decaf does have caffeine and if you’re sensitive to it then you’ll still develop sides. This isn’t from my experience (I quit completely at once) but from many experiences t

I didn’t know about those pills but they do contain caffeine as you say, so it was no good for me even if temporal. Some people switch to decaf coffee only to find out that it has some caffeine and still affects them. I can’t vouch for that

The book is “Caffeine blues”. There may be better ones or just more up-to-date but this is a popular one among decaf circles and I had easy access to it.

For those suffering from similar problems and want to stay legal while giving this a try, you can buy fresh truffles in the Netherlands and do it yourself. For the first trip, it’s very recommended that you get a tripsitter. If you want to
