I have struggled with getting anything functional on a Fairphone running Ubuntu Touch. The problem is you can't really run any Linux app, it has to be written to support their specific display manager. Running regular Linux apps is pos

I think the obsession with making much of all communication a capital asset treats a basic human behavior as theft. Imitation, remixing, and borrowing are a fundamental part of human communication. Copyright serves the interests of capital,

The cheerleaders, and the programming vegans are exhausting. LLMs are not taking over programming, but neither are they useless. They're tools with strengths and weaknesses we're still learning. I just want a take on them for once

Overall it's a quality of life improvement but not a true efficiency boost. The problem is the review process to properly understand a change can take nearly as long as if I wrote it myself. Sometimes it's an accelerant some times

Everything except the first provision is reasonable. IMO it's none of your damn business how I wrote the code, only that I understand it, and am responsible for it. It's one of those provisions that seem reasonable, but really hav

Is it actually badly zoned? There's also a lot of apartment buildings and first floor retail in downtown Denver. I do agree though, it's a concrete jungle, we really need more natural environments to feel human.

Homelessness is a choice that society has made. We have enough excess that we can feed and house these people. People are a lot less scary when they have some measure of security.

I find that people who are the most opposed to diffusion models are usually the most ignorant about the technology. AI art doesn't begin and end with Midjourney and OpenAI. If you don't know what a controlnet, comfyui node, lcm, o

I mean the art community has always been continuous. Artists fight over everything, copying style or composition, claiming people are tracing others works. It's honestly not new, same thing in new clothes.

This isn't psychosis, this is a cult. It's new age religious beliefs, wrapped up in tech. These people aren't any different than people who believe in speaking in tongues, or transubstantiation.

I need assistance with task retrieval, time management, and working memory. I do not need an app that makes me feel guilty, and quantifies it with pretty charts. We are not lacking in knowledge, and track data isn't particularly useful

Seriously, stop worrying about what people do in their free time, and find you're own joy. It's not like your distaste is going to have any effect on the people who enjoy it, so stop worrying about it.

Most people do not hold strongly consistent or well introspective political ideas. We're too busy living our lives to examine everything and often what we feel matters more than what we know, and that cements our position on a subject.
