> you can’t measure this on a monthly scale, it’s too slow of a process You can somewhat measure global warming on a monthly scale. Just graph the last 100 years in average monthly temperatures and you will see a graph going steadily up.

One of the most physical jobs I have ever taken as a student involved emptying a Warehouse full to the brim with Winnie the Pooh VHS tapes. We had to put the things in boxes, then pallets, wrap the pallets in plastic, label them, and then s

Ok but what is the point, though? Surely obsolescence resistance was not high on the list when you got them.

I was in the "close to nature is good" camp but then the other day I watched a video of a bear infested with intestinal nematodes (don't google it) and then I realized that perhaps staying somewhat away from nature might not

You are not trying to find a "path" since you don't have a starting point - you only have end points. Your enclaves are more defined by the shape of the walls (roughly x cells in radius) than with the fact that you reach them

The first step would be defining what football means. That would keep us entertained for many dog years.

This person might enjoy the Keychron K1. I have used mine for many years. It's a bit less "low profile" than a mac keyboard, but the difference is not enough to require different finger movement - I get used to the different

I just take pictures and share them via Whatsapp with my wife/other family. I know they are not the best quality they could be, but I am fine with that. I don't know how it is backed up. It feels great, not knowing.

One possible alternative to banning the phone or total surrender could be finding proper games for them, instead of these slot-machines-in-disguise. One would need alternative App browsers for that, the default ones don't allow filteri

Not at all. It's just that they have reached high visibility in some markets - mobile, concretely. It's a combination of marketing engineering and tacit complicity on the part of Apple/Google.

Any game that offers a virtual currency purchaseable with real currency (be it coins, diamonds or energy rays) should be avoided. Especially if you have children.

I think that's correct for some assertions. When a statement is "this is always true ", then a counterexample is all it takes to disprove it. On the other hand, if the statement is "this is not always true " the

Don’t fixate on the boots. You will probably not find boots for $6 neither. The point is about availability of options, not about how much a boot costs or lasts. See Pratchett quote above.

No, you are doing the rich man thing; the rich man can afford to buy a $20 pair of boots which lasts 5 years. The poor man can only afford the low-quality $6 pair which lasts a year.
